I would love to spend time there, just SWMBO and me. It would really refresh our spirits and calm our souls. Can't go there so I guess we will just have to go sit in the sun and watch the local animals. the vixen has five kits, which come by on occasion. Our neighbor with the chickens and goats has two annatolian shepherd dogs guarding the goats and chickens, so hopefully the foxes will not get any chickens. We love watching the foxes, but also like eggs, tough choices. In the nature preserve we could just sit back and enjoy,

Glad you are back posting but be careful. Remember to back off before you get too frustrated. Better to remain healthy, my friend.

Amen. Good advice. Of course I can't prove this, it seems when I am healthy in my spirit God let's wild animals get closer to me. Maybe they sense my spirit. But He is so amazing. I am always thanking Him. " Wow, what a beautiful bluebird Lord. Thank you for letting me save that turtle Lord. Thank you for the deer. Thank you for the geese. Is that a baby chipmunk Lord ? Thank you for the beautiful blue sky and the nice cool breeze. " If we look we can always find things God provides to be grateful for.

SWMBO had an interesting experience the other day. We hang fly strips outside, more for the wasps than the flies. One fell off onto the ground. the next day SWMBO saw it and picked it up, noticing that a juvenile five lined skink was stuck to it. the little lizard was around three inches long plus four inches of tail with the typical blue to purple tail tip that the young ones have. The poor little thing was stuck hard. She took him inside, carefully removed him from the sticky surface and washed him in soap and water until all of the sticky was gone, which took about a half hour. His tiny legs kept getting restuck to his body. Finally she got him cleaned off with the only damage to the skink that the tip of the tail broke off. After rinsing him off, she put him outside in the shade where there were pill bugs for him to eat. Since the tail tips are designed to break off, so the lizard can get away from the predator, it didn't bleed and will regrow. Hope his survives. SWMBO does strange things like that, one of the many reasons I love her.

Amen. That was a lot of work. I take lady bugs and skeeter k**lers and beetles outside and let them go. There is not much I like to k**l. I k**l flies, ticks, fleas, some spiders and have no problem k*****gs rats, snakes or mosquitoes. Other than that I pretty much try to help God's creatures.

SWMBO does odd things like that. What is a skeeterk**ler? Have to look for them, they sound useful. We take spiders outside, love watching toads outside. Wasps are for k*****g as they can hurt the dogs or us seriously since they sting numerous times.

Actually they call them skeeter eaters. I said it wrong. I don't know exactly how to describe them. Just a large harmless winged creature with dangly legs. I have always been told they eat mosquitoes so I don't bother them.

Insect or bird? If insect I would expect Dobson fly. Those make great bait to. Guys who fish around here often use them for bait. Really neat flying insect. Google it and let me know if that is what you were talking about.

OK, they are an insect and are called Crane flies, mosquito hawks and skeeter eaters.Evidently they do not eat mosquitoes. They occasionally eat nectar. The larvae eat grass roots and can damage some plants. Their legs are designed to break off to escape birds, much like the lizards tail. Oh well, I wish they did eat mosquitoes. But if faced with a choice of saving a lady bug or a skeeter eater I guess the skeeter eater will lose.

Thank you no propaganda I'd never seen this side of Holland before. It's beautiful.

When I saw your title of Dutch nature preserve I thought it would be a nudist colony.
