Great post Poppa, Brought back a lot of memories. I only missed one. Number 8, I thought the answer was fear, and it was, among the people I knew back then.

Missed 1; number 16, about the Tinker Toys. Being 63, I was able to 'live' most of this stuff. Oh well, I suppose I'm still okay to wear my tee shirt that says, "Older than dirt" on it.

Also, in case some of you fellow "oldies" aren't aware, there is a line of clothing out called, "Old Guys Rule." Below is a link to their website. Also, the line is carried by several chain stores and speciality stores across the country. The website lists the stores and locations. I own several of the tee shirts and wear them quite often. I've received lots of compliments when wearing them.

Hey youngster, you're doing alright. No doubt you have 'listened' to your elders.

I've told this before, but #18 stands out to me because I have a cousin who, at a very young age, could swear a blue streak. One day his mother said to him, "One more swear word and I'll wash your mouth out with soap." Well, how could he resist a challenge like that, so yes it came out. She picked him up and did exactly what she said she would do. When she sat him down, he started spitting and said, "You didn't have to use so damn much did you?"

Hey Beark. My teacher at school washed my mouth out and I doubt it was a curse word. But I'm sure I said something inappropriate. Of course back then the teachers or the neighbor could beat the hell out of you and then you would get beat again at home. But it worked. We had a lot more respect for our elders back then.

the ol board with holes in it Rufe??
it was certainly a mighty deterrent for mischief :!: :!:

19 out of 20......I guess being 68 is being a real old gezzer...Doesn't matter...Those question brought back a lot of good memories...These times are what America is all about.....Sadly.. That America is gone. It is a shame that our grandchildren will never know the freedoms we had in the "Good Old Days"...Thanks for you post...I enjoyed the trip down memory lane...

OMG. The principle and the vice principle were both big men. I got the paddle a number of times and it wasn't funny. But, I think it worked. I think we wouldn't have the problems we have now if paddling was still in use.

___________

Wifie and I went to Clearwater Beach, this past May, to celebrate our 20th anniversary. Right across the street from our hotel are a lot of souvenir shops. While stroling through the shops, I spotted a sign that read, "Old Guys Rule" shirts sold here." I thought I'd died and gone to "tee shirt heaven!" I wear a 3X size. Much to my delight, the store had a whole display rack dedicated to 3X sized "Old Guys Rule" tee shirts. I bought 10 shirts! I'm too embarrassed to say how much I spent on the shirts. Let's just say that 'I'm good' when it comes to tee shirts for a while.

With all respect to your wife, I'm not too sure I'd be comfortable with a shirt that read, "Old Women Rule." My wife wouldn't find the phrase, "Old Woman" very complimentary. She's already told me as much.
