I Want What I Want...

Don G. Dinsdale Loc: El Cajon, CA (San Diego County)

I WANT WHAT I WANT WHEN I WANT IT!!!

100% True; I Can Attest To This, Personal Experience... Don D.

Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a stroke of good luck. ---- H. Jackson Brown, Jr.

Managing desires is one of the most crucial elements of being an adult. Children ( & adults, too !! ) want many things that aren't good for them. Many times, their impulses can get them into trouble. They need caring & loving family or friends to protect them from the harm that comes from getting what they want.

As adults, our spiritual development includes learning how to regard our desires and how to manage them. On one hand, it isn't healthy to become so controlled, repressed, or secluded that we never let ourselves out & have fun. But on the other, we know that indulging every thought or desire will k**l us.

Sometimes we want something very badly and when we don't get it, we feel desperate or very disappointed. (i.e.my moto). However, life continuously points us in directions we hadn't expected. Disappointments can serve to reset our values & our very lives. Denial our desires, whether physically or mentally, may point us in directions that can be much better than anything we had imagined for ourselves.

Today I will be open to the new choices & directions that life brings me. Is this good for me or someone else ?? Is it the right thing to do @ this time ??Do I need this or do I just want it ??

Yes, often times the only way we learn to navigate life is through pain. Some people think God is a k**l-joy but He's just trying to protect us from the painful consequences. He sees the bigger picture and the end from the beginning when we don't. We are just little tunnel vision jerks.
