I think every single right winger has pronounced that all anti-racists have no idea about ante bellum history or the nuances surrounding everything from the development of the constitution to the manipulations by the elite of those living in poverty.
Then they proceed to lead us through the process of trying to pick an appropriate flag with the lack of originality that caused them to continually come so close to the US flag.
Why do they devalue our knowledge?
They don't understand that US History means all of US History.

I agree that the Confederate battle flag should be eliminated. It should be replaced with the Communist flag with a Hammer and Cycle.

It's one of my pet peeves. One cannot have a discussion about the causes of the Civil War without mentioning slavery ( to them it wasn't important) and the abolitionist movement. The confederate sympathizers seem to think that the north had a choice in the matter. They did not.


Aside from the provocations of breaking up the Union and firing on the US military (what? they expected to do that with impunity?), even if the Federal government had not responded a war was inevitable. John Brown was only the first of many northern Christians who had become radicalized by the southern insistence on extending slavery.

The abolitionist northmen were going to go south, bible in one hand and guns in the other, regardless of the actions of the government. Southern resistance to abolition was radicalizing more and more of the northern population.
