I always wonder how so many people who have next to nothing don't make the connection between the party that wants to give them an assist and those who want them to be destitute before they get minimal help.
I can only imagine what the food stamp cuts have done to people.
How does anyone support a group of people who think that their acts should cut an elderly lady's SNAP benefit from $200. to $38.
In a world where those same elected officials think nothing of spending $38. for meat on Sunday for dinner.
Oh well, one switched out, at least.

If you ever find the answer, please share it with me. I live in a rural area. When we get together it resembles a meeting of the U.N. We have people from all over the world living in our forest. As human beings we all get along and help each other.

Politics is the great divider. Most of the middle class people in my area not only vote Republican but believe all the BS this party puts out. They complain about taxes and refuse to see, they are taxed so corporations are not. What scares me is the fact these are for the most part college educated people. What is more frightening is some are in the 25 to 30 age group.

I have even heard a few say, if you can't afford insurance then we should just let you die. One gentleman went so far as to say if you don't work then you don't eat. The food stamp program should be demolished. When you point out there are no jobs paying a livable wage. That is ignored. When you point out disabled and elderly people can not work, that is called a scam.

I don't know if it is the economy and these people are just scared that by helping someone else it will take from them or if they are just mean spirited people. I do know the majority of us just avoid them. You can't educate them or even get them to examine their positions.

Do you suppose some of these young people are so stressed with paying education loans that they have no room for caring?
I don't understand it myself. I see it in my own family, though. The more they have the less they give.

It is just my opinion but I think many of our young people are giving up hope of the "American Dream".. They have all these loans to repay and the jobs are just not there. We have people with advanced degrees working two jobs just to survive.

When I left university, jobs were plentiful. If you worked hard you could achieve success. Owning a home was not that difficult. Getting start up capital for your own business was not very difficult. I really do not know how young families starting out now even make ends meet.

I guess what bothers me the most is my generation. Many of us had a great deal of assistance in getting where we are today. These same people want to deny our young people the same chance. It is as if people in this country have become oblivious to the fact: the young are the future of any country.

The attitude seems to be, we can't let everybody into the middle class, they might move up further. So let's keep them down below the bottom rung of the ladder.

I have to admit the "young people" I talk to are closer to 40.
They own their homes, send their kids to parochial and private schools, most have two cars, one an SUV. They work hard and play hard.
They do a lot for each other but there is no volunteer work that is obvious. They are stuck in that middle aged run around with that kids' activities.
I am not sure that there has ever been a fulfilled dream, most of the time I wasn't interested in it.
I think these figures are a bit confusing but interesting.

It it truly odd, to me, that ownership goes up as people age.

There is a whole lot of misunderstanding about so many things.
The minimum wage, for example, seems to be accepted as some acceptable wage. It should be the hiring wage with incremental increases just as with any other job that has organized labor in place.
As an employee increases in mastery of skills the pay rate should go up.

I get a kick out of the objection to the $15. living wage push.
That is $600. a week for a 40 hour week, in what world is that a true living wage?
