With the knowledge of an OPP contributor's progeny having a birthday, I present this story....not far removed from t***h.
________________________
Years ago, a persnickety mom was concerned about her kindergarten son walking to school.
ProgenyE did not want his mother to walk with him. She wanted to give him the feeling that he had some independence, yet know that he was safe.
So, she had an idea of how to handle it. She asked a neighbor if she would please follow him to school in the mornings, staying at a distance, so she probably wouldn't notice her.
Her neighbor said that since she was up early with her toddler anyway, it would be a good way for them to get some exercise as well, so she agreed.
The next school day, the neighbor and her little girl set out following behind ProgenyE as he walked to school with another neighbor girl he knew. She did this for the whole week.
One day, as the two children walked and chatted, kicking stones and twigs...ProgenyE's little friend noticed the same lady was following them as she seemed to do every day all week. Finally, she asked of ProgenyE, 'Have you noticed that lady following us to school all week? Do you know her?'
ProgenyE nonchalantly replied, 'Yeah, I know who she is.' The little girl asked, 'Well, who is she?'
'That's just Shirley Goodnest,' ProgenyE replied, 'and her daughter Marcy.'
'Shirley Goodnest?' asked the girl. 'Who is she and why is she following us?'
Well,' ProgenyE explained, 'Every night my mom makes me say the 23rd Psalm with my prayers, 'cuz she worries about me so much...and in the Psalm, it says, Shirley Goodnest and Marcy shall follow me all the days of my life,' so I guess I'll just have to get used to it :!: '
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, PROGENY-E

Great story. Happy Birthday to ProgenyE. May there be many more, with no meetings of the frying pan weapon.

Mr. Slatten,
Thank you for the fun story.
My birthday was great fun, sushi and saki with my best friend, his wife and sister.
Mom h**es big time my new shoes. She doesn't understand trendy colors. Lots of new Carolina gear! She made my favorite meal. It will be eaten this evening.
Oh, go Warriors!
Sincerely,
ProgenyE
PS: I used Mom's account.

Dear Mr. Gringo,
Thank you for your wishes. I had a good evening last evening.
I told Mr. Slatten she made my favorite meal last night. I am having it tonight. She and Dad are having....yuck...ham and cabbage. :-(
Could you make it for my health insurance? She's all worried about the amount. :-)
Sincerely
ProgenyE

Dear Mr. Please,
I had a very good birthday.
It almost was used when I broke my maternal great grandmothers ice tea pitcher. It was an accident. It is a topic that comes up occasionally.
Thank you for the wishes.
Sincerely
ProgenyE

I am pleased you had a great birthday. I understand your mother's lack of 'trendiness'...she has no appreciation for burn't orange.
YES :!: ...on 'Go Warriors', and your financial wizardry in using her account :!:
BTW, Sake...the oriental wine :?: Are you 21 now :?::thumbup:

I signed in for him to use the account. His
"financial wizardry" is such that I am his join bank account holder. :-)
Small fact he told me. The new player rotation and game plan game from the youngest, newest assistant coach.

Yes, he is twenty one. Did you know you are not suppose to pour your own sake? His BFF told me of that fact. Did you, also, know there is cold sake and warm sake? I knew zero about the beverage. At any rate, they had a wonderful time last evening.

The colder the sake, the sweeter it tastes. You have to be careful with your intake of cold sake.
Did he 'join' your account so as to make it a joint account :?:
Burn't orange is an elegant color :!: :hunf:

I am in concert regarding the 'ham and cabbage'. Yuckety, yuck, yuck. I don't know how anyone can eat such a d********g fare.
As to the health insurance, you will have to discuss that with MotherE. Sorry.

I prepared fried ham with sautéed butter cabbage and onions with boiled parsley potatoes. Unfortunately, there was insufficient for anyone at the Lake in Texas.  :D

Fried is good. So is sauteed butter cabbage with onions and parsley potatoes. Lack of provisions for me is not. :hunf:
No left-overs, huh :?::roll:
