You may perceive "dumber" on my part; however, I would question the last time you managed the finances of two retires from their 70s till mid and late 80s. In fact both of these women had Blue Cross. Although I do not manage her financial affairs, the 94 year paternal Aunt is doing quite well through Blue Cross. Again, you miss the necessity of prudent, financial responsibility by individuals. None of the spouses of these elders were in high paid executive positions, nor beyond middle class. They simple acted financially responsible through out their working lives.

You may not have yet learned the old adage of "pay yourself first". T***slation being, put money in savings first, even if it is only a dollar a week.

Barbie, -- People now-a-day don't understand/don't want to understand take you can actually start to work at an early age, save money, work 45 years, invest wisely, pay SS and medicare and then retire and collect the benefits you paid into all those years. -- Then the government says SS and Medicare are your entitlements. Entitlements BS. How they claim to say entitlement is beyond me. Working people earned that on investing in SS/Medicare -- it's just a shame that our broker/gov't ran it into the ground all these years.
