What an amazingly stupid woman. She called the Southern Poverty Law Conference a "uber-left" organization, and so, of course, they would lable her
"amusing", first amendment protected, ugly "comics" depicting Mohammed. To real Muslims, this is a taboo.
They also called her and her followers a "h**e" group, which she profoundly kisses off.

She is all over the place, confronting journalists, and she is putting on a huge show of being persecuted. She has
bodyguards around the clock. And she thinks she did
nothing wrong. No matter what anyone thinks of Islam, this is very different from jihadists, thugs, ISIS, etc.

This is a defaming of a religion. She refuses to take any responsibility, does not admit any wrong-doing.

You know, it's one thing to really believe in the First
Amendment, and another thing, altogether, to hide one's despicable actions behind it. A huge rationale.

This woman is getting so much press, and she is loving every minute of it. CNN. ABC. CBS. No PBS!!! Right
on, PBS. She is constantly talking about Sharia, and how "they" are going to force it on her. Poor Pam

Dave, I don't know much about the "piss Christ", if that is what you said. I knew there was a huge exhibit in
NYC or perhaps London. I think most of the artists were
from the U.K. Sorry, I don't know about the "piss Christ".
I have a vague memory of another piece of so-called
"art". Made out of leather, maybe. I don't recall a "piss" painting or exhibit.
So, I guess the answer is "no", because this is something that didn't cross my radar for some reason. I didn't have a television, for one thing. And I was very busy for many years, working, supporting my kids, and not much into
listening to news, and had given up my New Yorker
subscription. It was money better used on food for my
kids. Especially my son who was voracious.

I do remember there was a scandal, and I imagine that this is what you're talking about. Some artists defended it, no doubt, as "art". I have no judgment. No knowledge is a better way of saying it. Tell me about it. Apparently, it was revolting to many.

I suppose you are a fan of Pam Geller. And probably trying to bait me. It can't happen. I ought to have known about this if the exhibit was at MOMA, from

That aside, I have some thoughts on this whole free speech, anti-jihad/sharia thing.

As I recall, Ms. Geller said that the cartoon convention was not about "defaming" Mohammed, but exercising free speech in the face of Islamic bullies saying that "No one can draw the prophet Mohammed". Of course, you can...just at your own risk of death and/or dismemberment, etc. There was no directive on what the cartoon should consist of. Only that Mohammed should be in it. Therefore, if someone chose to make fun or to incorporate tasteless pornographic images in the cartoon, that was the individual's choice, not Ms. Geller's.

Funny thing is, when the French paper Charlie Hebdo was attacked, EVERYONE supported them. And almost every cartoon they produced was pornographic in nature. The world applauded their free speech spirit, and the #I am Charlie Hebdo tweets were aplenty.

Fast forward to the cartoon convention in Garland, TX and the Left is silent. No support, but criticism. I mean, when it comes to mocking Christianity, the Left is very brave. Because, we all know that it's the Christians that are persecuting Muslims over in the Middle East. It's the Christians who are throwing gays off buildings over there. It's the Christians who are beheading innocent men, women and children that do not convert to Islam, I mean, Christianity...RIGHT?!!! Oh wait!

I am not a fan of Geller - know little about her and can care less wh**ever it is that she stands for - like I can care less about the above referenced artist.

I am simply trying to make a point - if one is going to express outrage it should evenly balanced - and if one is outraged by a person using private resources to insult someone's religion they should be even more outraged when one uses public resources to do the same for another religion.

You're right. Balanced and informed positions are best.
Since I infer that this was a piece of crude work that
apparently was offensive to believers in Christ and Christianity...well. I'm not a Christian and I'm not affiliated with any organized religious group, but I'm sure that Christians and others were outraged that it was funded as it was.

And so it goes...there's always going to be something that is "offensive" and perhaps more than that - amoral. Really reprehensible. I don't know, Dave, there is so much division, so little cohesion, so little
together-ness, in general, and then across the entire
planet. Something is always going to piss some group
off. I'm not in many "groups". I mean, I v**e a certain
party (most of the time), do not read tabloids, and am reading a most amazingly written book by Hilton Als,
"White Girls". So I read a lot. I guess I'm in that group. My son loans me books. Between us, we probably have at least 4,000 books. His live with him, his wife, and their son. I turned him on to good lit when he was 13.
Maybe we ought to have a discussion about what we read, and why someone might want to read the books we've read.
