I remember when I arrived in Germany in 1956 and found most Germans drinking beer and wine instead of water. Their water table was not so deep and the water was pretty dangerous since they fertilized with only what came out of their honey wagons. That would be those wagons they mixed what they took out of their barnyards with water and sprayed on their crops, even on the grass they used for hay. I think there are many people who don't understand this and that it had to be done in many lands from the beginning. Christians who drank wine weren't all drunkards although I don't know about the atheists in this country.
