Glad to see all this engagement in the delights of proper syntax!

I've been losing hope ever since Apple's highly successful campaign to get us to "Think different".
You are a clever fella. Glad you are here on OPP

This thread can be lots of pure fun as long as folks contribute to it in that vein. I just went back over the first few pages and I'm grinning from ear to ear.

Yes, AutiE, there are great many very bright and articulate people here, and the fact that we can use our cleverness with the language to tease and tweak, without vitriol or nastiness is a wonderful change of pace. I hope we all can work hard to keep it going, without deteriorating into sand-box hair tugging and name calling, like so many other topics have done.

I for one, enjoy well done ripostes, even from those who are diametrically opposed to me to me, politically, as long as they are done with taste, class, and, of course, humor.

Navy ships report problems with equipment on a Form 4790.2K. The list of forms is reviewed and prioritized for planning work to accomplish during shore or Tender availability's. My favorites were the ones relating to, "hot water heaters." I mean, if the water is already hot, why do you need to heat it?

To make it stay that way?

One popular saying that I have a problem with is, "Drink Responsibly." It's a lot like, "gun control laws," which end up only affecting folks who would never cause a problem with a gun. In the drink statement one needs to consider that the only "responsible" thing a person like me can do is not to drink at all. One beer and I have no idea where things will end up because I'm allergic to alcohol in any form. It is impossible for ME to 'drink responsibly.' Non-alcoholics don't NEED to be told to drink responsibly; they already do! We see it all the time and folks who don't have my allergy probably never give it a second thought. When you think it all the way through it's pretty much a waste of space but makes the brewers feel like, "Well, we told them. If they didn't do it it's no skin off of our noses."
