this is a great video. Should give you an idea how hard it is to reprogram your brain even for a simple task. Just think how hard it is to reprogram your brain then if you have been messing up your life for years and are now going to do it the right way, whether it is drug usage, drinking or any other destructive behavior. think about it.

Great video!

Apparently the sooner you learn something the harder it is to change you thought patterns.

It's also true that the longer you believe something the more convinced you become of its t***hfulness.

Even without any new evidence to strengthen that belief.

That is why it is easier to teach children two languages at one time, or a short time span between, and why European children are often more adept at multilanguage sk**ls. It is probably who children brought up in drug using households learn to accept drugs as a welcome part of life, and children whose parents have a number of other sexual partners are more accepting of this destructive behavior. Children of thieves are more likely to become thieves. Of course that is why the government wants to remove children early and put them in state run schools so that the state propaganda is what is taught. Many areas outlaw home schooling unless it is done with the same textbooks and tests as the government schools. Yes, if you have the children and can teach them the state doctrine they are ready to become proper subjects. So you are entirely correct, what children learn, not only in motor sk**ls, which is what the video was demonstrating, but in thought patterns is hard to unlearn.

Which could also explain why people believe what they do. Perhaps people are Christians because their parents are Christians. Muslims are Muslims because of their parents. Hindus are Hindu because of their parents. The longer they believe, the more they believe. Even though they have never really been shown any real evidence for their belief system.
Perhaps your religion has more to do with where, and to whom , you were born ,rather than any other reason.

But just like in this video if one makes the effort one can change their brains wiring and see reality in a different manner. Perhaps even something that more closely resembles reality.

It's great that we can find common ground.

Actually I was raised in a household where religion was Sunday morning for an hour and h**e, violence, emotionally abusive parents was the norm for the rest of the time. God was not part of the scene until I was in my mid twenties.

But do you think you would be a Christian if you were born in Saudi Arabia?

So where does that leave god?

If our t***h is based on geography, how real can god be?

If our belief system is product of location and heritage.

It does not change God, it just changes our perception of Him. It is like a flea looking up to an elephant. If the flea just sees the elephants eye lid, its perception will be different than if the flea sees only the tip of the elephants trunk. If the flea arrives at the rectum of the elephant it will respond differently also. Now if it were a fly rather than a flea, it would now believe it was in heaven. None of the perceptions change the nature of the elephant. Our ability to understand God is even more limited than the fly's understanding of the elephant.

Fair enough. If location and heritage are the primary indicators as to what our belief system is , how can anyone ever know if their beliefs are correct?
And how could anyone ever say that someone else's belief system is wrong?

Which actually makes the whole concept of God rather suspect and subjective in nature.

Just think, if you were born in Borneo a hundred years ago you would be k*****g and eating your neighbor, and there would be nothing wrong with that, because that would be your belief system. MUNCH MUNCH MUNCH

Precisely. I think you are finally getting it.

God cannot exist if your belief in god is based on when you were born, where you were born ,and what culture you were born into.
If God were real all would know ,and when and where and too whom you were born would not matter.
But as you have clearly stated it most certainly does matter.

God has always existed. Our understanding of Him is limited . If you don't believe in tornados because you have never been in one, that doesn't make a tornado a figment of my imagination.
I have been in a tornado, they do exist.

The difference being we have evidence of tornadoes
They are a phenomenon of the natural world. They can be witnessed and evidence of their destructive influence discovered.

NoNE of that can happen with a concept of a supernatural deity.
