I liked where he talks about sittin' in with BB when he was 17...also where he admits to being too effed up to to open for...i believe Freddie King....that Johnny sure was a card. Actually hard to believe he lived to be 70... what with all the health problems and drug and alcohol abuse all the way into the late 90s before he finally cleaned up.

Hey, this is a good one to use when you get tired of mindless progs

I take it that Gil Joiner is your brother? That was pretty cool. Does he have any stuff on Youtube? Play with different bands or solo?

Yes Gil joiner is my brother. back in the seventies he used to do it for a living. Most notable was the Victoria hallman band. She went on to star as a regular on hee haw. He just never made the big time, it was extremely difficult back then. He's in his sixties now has a regular job, we both play just play music for kicks. As far as I know those are the only two published songs he has. He didn't even know how to find them I had to search for him by my own memory.

Glad you found them. I have bookmarked them. Too bad he didn't make it but know what it was like. Back in the 1960s I studied jazz piano for a couple of years but, h*****g around the piano bars, I found that there were so many starving musicians who, I knew were so much better than me, I quit and went back to college into a totally different field. I have maintained my interest in music over the years. My favorites are piano, guitar and harmonica. I have a friend, who is now retired in Australia,
who played piano and organ as a studio musician here in the states an played with a number of bands in the country music field. He played with some of the greats including Willie and Waylon. We keep in touch regularly exchanging stuff on music and photography .
Here is something with Victoria Hallman. Quite a singer in her day. I remember her from Hee Haw.

Actually, Rockin Roll hoochie Koo was Rick derringer's song. Rick was part of the And....Johnny Winter And. Great song with dueling guitars though...it was one of the first tunes i learned to play.

Thanks Elwood for the Vicki Hallman stuff hadn't had time to listen yet. Gil will like that i'm sure!!!

Wow Elwood, that video brought back some memories. The last time i saw Vicki i think i was 11, they had gig in the top floor lounge of i think it was the Sheraton hotel in Birmingham. They let sit next to the stage and drink cokes because i was "with the band" hehe. Musta been '74....geez a freakin lifetime ago. Vicki was a very sweet lady, hell she treated me like i was HER brother. I sure miss those days.

For what its worth, I went to High School with Leslie West, "Mountain", ('Mississippi Queen').
Gives me the feeling I'm getting older
