Futurist Ray Kurzweil spells out his reasoning for our future and it's a pip. The nay-sayers have been silenced by
the fact of artificial intelligence's rapid rise and it's ever increasing speed of evolution. It will take us one way or the other
but take us it will. Bet on it.

The problem with the theory is the assumption that they will behave like humans when self-awareness occurs.

There are variables and you mentioned an important one. I perceived the overall tone of the article to be whether or not is it going to be a good or bad
step for the human race. It has the potential to go either way. I found the time line of the evolution in technologies to be right on track. The advent of micro
processors and miniaturized electronics has allowed the doubling of mans knowledge at an unforeseen rate not realized just a few years ago.

I would hope that when the green start system button is hit on the upcoming A.I. Super Computer that the red button is very close by.

As the German Soldier character on Laugh-In used to say, "Very interesting - but NOT funny!" The Terminator series, new one coming soon, still with Arnold as "The" Terminator, is all about the rise of the machines. We humans assume the roles of the mice in the basement after the machines take over.

Much of yesterdays Sci-Fi has become fact. I no longer read it but for years read everything I could get my hands on from H.G. Wells forward. I think the first sci-fi book I read was 20,000 leagues under the sea by Wells. For the following 20 years I had quite the appetite for it. Asimov was my favorite.
Being a well known scientist and prolific author made him so.

So. I guess Arnold is good to his word and is 'Coming Back"
Good deal. Should be a good one.
