I can not say enough about how strong the bond can become and how wonderful it is. They ask for so little and give so much.
All that is required of us block headed humans is how little it takes to reap great rewards with a little understanding.

This broke our hearts, as we have had two of our min-pins put down in the last six months, with a third one not far off. 'Sugar' has an inoperable tumor, also, and will soon follow 'Buster' and 'Red' into doggie heaven. The Sgt. Major and I are consoled only by the memories of our nearly 15 years with them all, and by the presence of 'LadyBug' our young, 2-yr. old min-pin. Like most dogs, they were/are Family. It is a major loss to lose a pet. :(

Thank you for the video, NPP. We are making life as full as possible for Sugar until that fateful day.

Our dogs have always been part of our family. We couldn't be as effective in our work without them, which makes them more than just dogs, partners in healing. what they do for the kids is impossible to explain but they are part of the love God sends down to those who need it. this video was so heartfelt that we also sent it on to Diane and a number of other dog breeders whose regard for their dogs is so great, and why we have purchased dogs from those people in particular.

My pal for two years. Got her at 10 weeks. We are paired for as long as either one of us exist. The loss of her would leave an nonrefillable hole.

I kid her by calling her either, Satan's Seed, The Devils Hound or Little Missy Cujo. The sweetest creature I've known. My last dog on mother earth.

I've had a Rott Slatten. A perfect to the tee breed example. Wonderful animal. Another sweetheart unless challenged. Only a fool would do so. She would size up all male strangers and instantly except all others. Awesome to watch. Thousands of years of proper breeding and the ole Roman Legion dog's haven't changed one bit. I cared very much for her. She will always be a part of my life that I cherish.

Wow did this hit home. Thanks for sharing
We have an 8 year old Rhodesian Ridgeback (Kayla) at a cost of about $ 8k on 4/1/15 she completed 3.5 weeks (18 sessions/days of radiation treatment) She has a "nasal adeno carcinoma" inoperable cancerous tumor in her nasal passage. It was a difficult decision, With approximately 70% chance of extending her life for another 1 - 1.5 years. Her suffering at the time was so difficult to witness and deal with, and I was so concerned about her suffering and effects of radiation treatment, which was also very difficult to deal with.

At this time 5/27/15 She has recovered so well, and I know the inevitable is coming, hopefully further down the road, but right now I feel blessed by the Universe and I am taking full advantage of this additional happy time we are having together.
I often think of dogs as showing so much Soul with their eye expressions. Weather it's soul or not it is still a beautiful gift to us from them.

I shared this experience as an example of hope.
Dogs handle radiation treatment better than humans.

Yes, dogs do handle that much better. Personally I think it is because they do not go around feeling sorry for themselves, blaming themselves, or saying WHY ME? they just accept it with stoic dignity. something we could well learn from our dogs.

Aw, gee NPP, that is a real heartbreaker. I too, as many others, know the pain of losing 'family' members.

I agree, they handle difficulties, pain and suffering with a natural dignity and endurance and a complete lack of any self pity, they just go on and live for the sake of living.
As if life is precious to them. They are beautiful creatures and we are lucky to have them, especially living with us.

Yes, I cried. Bear talks to me, he seldom barks. I give him bottled water, as the water here is 'purified????' with chlorine (a known carcinogen), and cancer rates here are high.

Don't you know, dogs are a gift to us from God.
