Now this is a religion even an Atheist could believe in

1.The inherent worth and dignity of every person.

2. Justice, equity and compassion in human relations.

3.Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations.

4.A free and responsible search for t***h and meaning.

5.The right of conscience and the use of the Democratic process within our congregation and in society at large.

6. The goal of world community with peace, liberty ,and justice for all.

Who's with me !

I just found it. Absolutely the least offensive religion I have ever heard of.

I really cannot find anything wrong with it.

You have just described the humanist New World Order. Man can never achieve what you describe as your new church. Someone will always talk faster, smoother, and better than you. The best you could develop is a club. Biggest factor missing is God.

I can; your statement that Bad Bob should "lead" it. (LOL)
Seriously, my late cousin was a member. I found much to agree with in his description of their belief system, and some things to disagree with. The lack of a rigid doctrine has appeal, since many religions have borrowed from others, although none will admit it. Christianity has borrowed heavily from Judaism, and from Mithraism, and some of the Middle Eastern "mystery" religions. Islam is a mish mash of Judaism, Christianity, and pagan religions of the area, including some "moon worship" beliefs that seem unique to the Arabian Peninsula.
Hinduism is an amalgamation of several religions, Buddhism has borrowed from Hindu beliefs, Taoism has Buddhist roots, as does Shinto.
This is by no means a complete listing, just an example. While the overwhelming majority of the practitioners seem politically Liberal, not all are. I find it odd that Atheists would find a home there. Of course, legally, the Church of Satan is recognized as a church, when their stated belief is that there is no God, and they are not a church. Straight out of their "Satanic Bible." ("Moron Manifesto" is far more accurate. I have never read a more confused mishmash of bulls**t ).
While I have a firm belief in God, I find most organized religions to be, at their core, political and money making operations. Not only Christianity and Judaism, but all mainstream religions are all about the money, which explains their involvement in politics.

Actually God is there more than others if you consider that God would be where His people understand his Word better than the rest.

Of course, I believe God is everywhere, but must certainly with those who understand his truespirit. Those who 'get him'.

They seem to understand God's purpose for usmMUCH better than do fundamentalists,,who have no clue what the true The Fundamemtals are.

Everything you just said ,I find too be absolutely true.
I was raised in a Christian family (Southern Methodist ) . and never really questioned anything with regards to Christianity or God until my mid 40's.
I simply went about my life secure in my faith and equally sure everyone else was wrong.
Then one day ,during an argument with an Atheist, I began to research the origins of Christianity, and discovered everything you just mentioned.
I actually took it kind of hard. I mean you live your entire life with a firm belief, that shapes the very way you view the world. Only to realize that you were lied too by those you trusted most.

So during my research I discovered things like the Virgin birth, the resurrection, the flood, all had origins that predated Christianity.

Then considering the amount of suffering in this world, how could an omnipresent, omniscient, all powerful god sit idly by and do nothing. If you are I, were to discover an abandoned infant we would surely render aid and assistance. Left all alone god would allow the infant to perish. This is the part where Christians will say that god works in mysterious ways, (bulls**t).

Then I read this quote attributed too the Ancient philosopher Epicurus:

Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able?
Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able,but not willing?
Then he is not benevolent.
Is he both able and willing?
Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing?
Then why call him God?

I found a great deal of t***h in this.

My determination was if Christianity is a lie ,then the very concept of God was also.

Just a bigger version of Santa Claus, if you don't behave, you won't get any gifts (eternal life).

Discovering common ground with you ( your understanding of religion ) is.... kind of cool...

Have a good day.

P.S. I would never join any church even one as decent as this. Just thought it was interesting.
