This beautiful tribute sent to me by a dear friend
A "Memorial Day Tribute" piece that will hopefully bring the meaning of this holiday into perspective. Memorial Day isn't about backyard BBQ's, boating & cold beer at the lake, or retail sales at the mall it's about paying tribute to those that made the ultimate sacrifice defending our great nation. It's about honoring the military men and women that put their education on hold, their careers on hold, their families on hold then gave their lives to preserve the way of life we enjoy and cherish.
Take a few minutes to watch the attached video and say a prayer for those that unselfishly gave their lives for us

Just another tough old "geezer" disabled vet who felt your beautiful tribute to all the patriots who signed a blank check for America and never made it back. God Bless America and please continue to protect US from OUR enemies, foreign and domestic. Thanks ole' geezer!!!

This shows that the families remember and respect but it fails to show the average Joe. Quite sadly I'm betting those under 40 know very little about Memorial Day. Where did it begin and why. Most Americans can't tell you. The date has been move and even the name has changed, again why?

This was started as a tribute to the lives lost during the Civil War if I am not mistaken. It was also called Decoration Day in the beginning, I don't remember the reason for Decoration Day I would have to look it up.
