PRAYER FOR APRIL1, 2015 Sacrifices

When I woke up yesterday morning my arthritis was particularly painful and my fingers wouldn't bend. Even two warm wax treatments didn't help. I was wandering around the house feeling sorry for myself when SWMBO told me to stop acting like a grumpy old man, just get on with the day, and COPE WITH IT. She reminded me of all the sacrifices everyone makes on a daily basis just to do what needs to be done.
Think of the ultimate sacrifice God made by giving His prime creation free will. He gave us a set of rules to live by, but allowed us to decide not to obey them. God knew that we would sin, and He wanted us with Him for all eternity. From the beginning He planned to sacrifice His only begotten Son, to save those who believed in Him so we could be with Our Father throughout eternity. This Sunday we celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, His rebirth from the grave. God always knew what Jesus would have to endure toward that end- to sacrifice Himself for US. All the things we should do to live the life he directs are minute in comparison, yet we cannot even do those without complaining. Following God's law should be a joyful concept, yet we often look on it as a major burden.

Almighty God- we thank Thee for Thy blessings and the gifts you have bestowed upon us. We celebrate the Resurrection of Thy Son , who was sacrificed for our eternal life. We humbly ask for forgiveness for our sins and our unwillingness to sacrifice some of our thoughts and time toward glorifying Thy Name. This we ask in Jesus name. AMEN.

Keep in mind that religion and politics are NOT separate issues. Those who are guided by God's word reflect those beliefs in ALL we do. We ARE Christians, for instance. It is not a belief that stops at the church door, but what we attempt to use as our guideline for all our our behaviors. Where we fail at that, it is because our beliefs are not perfected, it is no fault of God's.

rayer for April 2, 2015 Preparing a Place
Five years ago, as usual SWMBO and I were slow cleaning out a planter on the front porch. When we finally got to it, we discovered a bird had made a next and laid eggs in the planter. Obviously we couldn't clean it out then, so we enjoyed the miracle of five eggs hatching . For several days all we could see was five beaks open wide, waiting to be fed. Then feathers, eyes opening, and then three weeks later the amazing sight of five Carolina wrens fully fledged , fly away to start new lives on their own. We marveled at the gift that God had given us- the opportunity of seeing His creations develop and grow to all they were meant to be, five beautiful Carolina wrens, with a song bigger than they are, a promise of God's love echoing through the woods daily. since then we have kept the planter clean and ready, and each spring Carolina wrens make their home and raise a family on our front porch, safe from rain, owls, snakes, skunks and raccoons.

In the same way we must prepare a place in our hearts and minds for the gifts God has for us. We must keep it pure and clean, free from snakes, vermin, and evil thoughts, a place where God's thoughts and gifts can remain pure, accessible, and without distortion, where the Devil's whispers cannot soil the beauty of the word of the Almighty.

Almighty God, help us to cleanse our souls, guide our spirits, and keep out unclean thoughts which could infect the Truth which You have given us and turn it cancerous. Our daily prayers of thanks come from a clean heart and mind so that they can be presented to you and you will accept them and guide us to maintain our belief in Thy Goodness. In Thy love will you accept our humble gifts of prayers and thanks. We who are not worthy beseech You to purity our minds and thoughts. We prey daily for those who have passed on, and that You have welcomed into Your kingdom. Help us keep a clean, loving place in our hearts for the messages that you give us daily so that we can receive and understand them. This we ask in Jesus name. AMEN

The guiding light

I had a call from a friend in Omaha this morning, and the call demanded that I think about and write today's prayer now, while it was still fresh in my mind. The friend who called had a most amazing story. A week ago last Sunday he and his wife were just leaving church when they saw a girl standing off in the shadows. She was dirty, unkempt and obviously not from this church, so our friends went over to talk to her. The first thing the girl said was "I want to go home with you". Since the couple are both social workers and certified foster families as well as rescue workers, they notified the police (two officers are members of the same church) The couple, their three foster kids, the little girl and one officer all went to the couple's home.

Over lunch they all learned that the girl was an 11 year old runaway and she told a story of abuse, neglect and frequent abandonment that would tear your heart apart. This time the parents had abandoned her thirty miles from home- just dumped her at the side of the road Friday night. She hid in the woods until Sunday morning when she heard church music and went to the church just as the service was ending. So why did she choose this couple to go to? It was a cloudy, rainy day, but as they stood in the doorway of the church, the sun broke through the clouds and for a brief time it shown directly on them. The girl took it as a sign from God that she would be welcomed there. She is now living with this good family, hopefully until she is of age - the paperwork is in process.

Are we as receptive to the signs from God guiding us to what is good and people who are loving? Or do we turn our backs on God's signs because it is not convenient, or we are afraid? Perhaps it is just because the signs are not written in English, but rather written in the heart.

Oh Heavenly Father help us to see the world with an open heart, and look at Thy miracles with a receptive mind, so that we are able to receive Thy messages with gladness and joy. Let your love shine through us always, and our joyful spirit so fill our hearts that others can see or sense our joy , and be one with us as we sing Thy praises for all Thou hast given us. Let the joy and peace and enlightened spirit of Christ's resurrection become our mainstay not just on Easter but all the days of our lives until we become one with Christ through the Holy Spirit in Life Everlasting AMEN

Connections

BearK's husband Charlie has gone to be with God in His house for all eternity, leaving a huge gap in BearK's life. The memories of their life together are going to be a great comfort until they are together again in the Kingdom where all life force began with the Creator and all come full circle to become part of that force in the Truth that is God's, and only God's. BearK has been blessed with many loving friends here on earth to help bring her joy, love and comfort until the time until she and Charlie are together again. We on OPP have been blessed with her strong beliefs and wise words and pray that she will continue to be with us for many years. After all, her work hear is not done until God says "Come Home". We still have heard no word on Lindajoy, whose bright and happy spirit has graced us for many months. She remains in our prayers. As we all pray for God's children we know that they can feel god's love upon them, and we also feel God's message of love and forgiveness as it blankets us with comfort. God connects us all in one spirit and reaches all of us in His special ways. We feel His love when we extend love to others, and understand a small amount of the forgiveness that God has for us, when we forgive each other for the things that we have done to each other. We know from God's word that we cannot forgive ourselves if we cannot forgive others, and God's love helps us connect with each other to do exactly that.

There are many people who are unable to make connections with other people or with God. Many of them are lost in the world of alcohol and drugs. These addictions have emptied their souls of human emotions as the drugs have eaten away at their very being. They cannot become reconnected to people until they have started to work on these addictions. God and His son Jesus can enter into their lives and their very hearts and heal their connections with people through their renewed connections to the Almighty God. There are others who have lost the ability to make connections with the good and honorable in this world because of their connections to Satan. for those the need to reach out for love has caused them to reach out to the evil forces that have hidden their true nature until the forces of evil have become of prime importance. To help them regain the connection to God, we must not only pray to God, but to extend our love to those who are strongly influenced by the wicked. There is another group that tends to be overlooked. That is the group of people who have been so hurt physically and emotionally that they do not even realize that they need help. within that group are adults whose lives have been so distorted by abuse as children that they honestly believe their lives are everyone's lives and that the emptiness and gnawing anger they feel are what everyone else feels, and there is no other way to feel. Their hopelessness is deep and abiding, but with God's help, they can be reached and helped to make the connections with others and with Almighty God that will lead them into the Kingdom of God's love. This group is often the most difficult to recognize, and the toughest to help, so our prayers must be strong in asking God's help for the damaged ones among us.

Almighty God, we, your children, deeply thank You for Your love in providing us with connections to other people that have aided us through out our lives. As we lift our voices in songs of praise for the love that you have given u through those who also love You, we ask that You help us find and reach out to those who have lost their way in the world, and no longer feel the love that You gave to them in the moment of their birth. Guide us in ways to help those who have addiction problems, whether it is through AA or Narcotics Anonymous . Those who are lost in the grip of evil need your help. they may be afraid to ask for it, because they believe they are no longer redeemable. Reach down and touch them with love and caring. Let them understand that Your son died for their sins, so that all may be redeemed when they turn away from Satan and ask for you to enter their lives. We particularly ask for you to help those whose childhoods are so damaged that they do not even know there is any hope. Guide them to those who will welcome them and love them in the way that You love all of us. Help them feel the circle of love through those who care so that they can begin the struggle toward a whole and loving live. this we ask in the name of Jesus Christ, your Son. Amen, Amen, Amen

Good Christians

I know that to be a Christian requires that you believe in God almighty and believe that Jesus Christ was His son, God incarnate and in human form came to earth knowing he would need to be sacrificed to forgive us for our sins and allow us to enter life everlasting. You must believe that Jesus died, was buried and on the third day rose again and is now with god the Father in His holy house waiting with welcoming arms for those who believe to come to Him and be in God's house forever. But is that all that is required to be a good Christian, or is there more we are required to do? If we believe in Jesus and still spend our lives doing horrid and evil things are we good Christians, or do we need to obey God's laws and treat each other with love and kindness? Is it good enough, and all that God requires to enter his kingdom just to say I believe, but make no attempt to live a Godly life?

What is a Godly life anyhow? Many people claim that we cannot be loving if we judge other people and their behavior. does that mean that we must validate their sins, or even ignore them, rather than reach out with a helping hand toward them and give them guidance toward living a more honorable life? Can we be Godly Christians if our lives have been filled with sin, hate and anger but after receiving the grace of God we have asked God to help us be better people, and we are working hard toward that goal. Can only those Christians who have always led a virtuous life enter the kingdom of God?

I have found that some of the most steadfast Christians have had much to overcome, and ample reason to doubt God's love, or even His existence. Many have had a drinking or drug problem or both. Some have had their parents die when they were children and been cared for by unloving people. They may have lived much of their lives in abusive situations. Hate and fear filled their lives until they were blessed with God's love. We have a friend who was same sex attracted for much of his life and then found redemption through Christ and assistance of a therapist who helped him regain his natural opposite sex attraction. He is so strong in his believe in the redemption power of Christ that nothing would shake his belief. Another of the most honorable Christians we know had been a prostitute as a teen age girl; then, through God's grace and love was able to leave the street life behind and now is a steadfast believer who works in a home for teen girls who are pregnant. The young man who got married last year, in what we call the wedding of the century, killed the man who was molesting him when the man was starting to molest his younger brother. He is now married and spends time helping kids who are in the situation he was once in. He, too, believes in Christ the Savior and leads an honorable and loving life. I really believe that their pasts and their struggles have made them all more open to receiving the word of God and seeking to do the things Jesus commands them to do. Only the arrogant would condemn any of these wonderful people and say they are not good and righteous Christians.

Almighty and loving God, we reach out to you in prayer for those who are struggling to live the type of life that You command them to lead. When they falter, give them a gentle hand to keep them on your path. When they look back at their past and the sins they have committed, remind them that all humans sin, God has forgiven them, it is time that they forgive themselves. Heavenly Father be with us as we support Your children who, having recognized their sins and accepted Christ, need our compassion and understanding. Protect them, o Lord from those who would spread their hateful condemnation of what ever sins are in the past. We, as your faithful servants will reach out and surround these good Christians so that the evil temptations and the hateful ones cannot engulf them and attempt to do them damage. We ask these things in Jesus name. AMEN AMEN AMEN

On a personal note, I would like to thank each and every one who has helped and guided me to better understand God and his love. You are all blessed with God.

this prayer is personally for those who have had to battle the hateful messages of a couple of people on OPP as well as those who are asking guidance from god during some tough times. We need to all pray for them.

A PRAYER FOR THE STATE OF ISRAEL;HER PEOPLE, SOLDIERS, AND FOR THE INNOCENT AMONG THE PALESTINIAN PEOPLE

Eternal God, receive our prayers for the peace and security of the State of Israel and its people.
Spread blessing upon the Land and upon all who labor in its interest.
Protect Israeli soldiers as they defend our people against missiles and hate.
Protect the innocent among the Palestinian people, that they may be safe and free from death and injury.
Inspire Israel’s leaders to both defend our people and follow the ways of righteousness and compassion.
Remove from the hearts of our people fear, hatred, malice, strife, and vengeance.
May the Jewish people scattered throughout the earth stand strong in solidarity with the state of Israel in times of war and peace, and may they be infused with the ancient hope of Zion.
May our people be encouraged by the symbol of Jerusalem as the eternal city of peace.
May the State of Israel be a blessing to all its inhabitants and to the Jewish people everywhere,
May she be a light to the nations of the world.

Nature's God

A small secular body is deciding whether they are wiser than the God who created them. These men in black (yes, I know some of them are women) are arrogant enough to believe that what god designed was faulty and should be rearranged to suit a politically active group that has spread lies claiming God designed men and women the same and that what ever type of sexual activity they want is according to the law of the Almighty. God made man and woman and told them to cleave to each other, be fruitful and multiply. The design from nature and nature's God was to have his people be the guardians and caretakers of the world that He has so lovingly provided for us, has left in our care, and expects us to tend for Him. Mere mortals in their arrogance have said that they know better than God, and that His will is not valid, because some people prefer to have sex with others of the same sex. They have heard the call of Lucifer and the whispers of Satan and are answering those calls rather than obeying the will of God and honoring His commandments.

Societies that no longer accept as valid, the design of male female bonding have self destructed. Those like the Greek and Roman pagans who never heard the word of God and wallowed in the mire of idolatry and pederasty have self destructed. We, who have heard God's word, and are choosing Satan's path instead, are worse for our rejection of His word after being given it in the ten commandments. Our rejection of the Word which we have claimed that we believe to be valid , is therefor much more intense of a sin. How can we believe in His laws an accept this blasphemy?
We must pray to the almighty with an intensity that shakes the mountains that He will guide those who claim to be God fearing to state that same sex marriage is unconstitutional, and that only the marriage of one man and one woman is valid. Ignoring Satan's whispers they must stay within the guidelines of the constitution and emphatically state that man cannot overrule God's laws and that is why the Constitution does not cover marriage at all.

Oh Lord on high, who made the planet and all its inhabitants, and made human beings to be male and female that that is the natural order, help the mere mortals who are discussing the validity of Your laws, as against man's rules to understand the difference.

We, your humble servants are all too aware of the temptations of the devil. Only Your loving light which can shine down upon them, can inspire them to do the moral thing and make the decision to uphold Your divine laws, no matter what the whispers from the evil one may say.
