I got this in my e-mail this morning and thought I would share it. While this letter was not published, I think it should have been. Most of the media will not touch something like this, because it does not fit in with their agenda. We used to have a good media that would take both sides and print it, but not anymore. Now it is just all one sided and if it does not meet their agenda it goes in the trash.

My wife, Rosemary, wrote a wonderful letter to the editor of the OC Register which,
of course, was not printed. So, I decided to "print" it myself by sending it out on
the Internet. Pass it along if you feel so inclined. Written in response to a
series of letters to the editor in the Orange County Register:


Dear Editor:
So many letter writers have based their arguments on how this land is made up of
immigrants. Ernie Lujan for one, suggests we should tear down the Statue of Liberty
because the people now in question aren't being treated the same as those who passed
through Ellis Island and other ports of entry.
Maybe we should turn to our history books and point out to people like Mr. Lujan
why today's American is not willing to accept this new kind of immigrant any
longer. Back in 1900 when there was a rush from all areas of Europe to come to the
United States, people had to get off a ship and stand in a long line in New York
and be documented. Some would even get
down on their hands and knees and kiss the ground. They made a pledge to uphold the
laws and support their new country in good and bad times. They made learning English
a primary rule in their new American households and some even changed their names to
blend in with their new home.
They had waved good-bye to their birth place to give their children a new life and
did everything in their power to help their children assimilate into one culture.
Nothing was handed to them. No free lunches, no welfare, no labor laws to protect
them. All they had were the sk**ls and craftsmanship they had brought with them to
trade for a future of prosperity.
Most of their children came of age when World War II broke out. My father fought
alongside men whose parents had come straight over from Germany, Italy, France and
Japan. None of these 1st generation Americans ever gave any thought about what
country their parents had come from. They were Americans fighting Hitler, Mussolini
and the Emperor of Japan. They were defending the United States of America as one
people.
When we liberated France, no one in those villages were looking for the
French-American or the German-American or the Irish-American. The people of France
saw only Americans. And we carried one f**g that represented one country. Not one
of those immigrant sons would have thought about picking up another country's f**g
and waving it to represent who they were. It would have been a disgrace to their
parents who had sacrificed so much to be here. These immigrants truly knew what it
meant to be an American. They stirred the melting pot into one red, white and blue
bowl.
And here we are with a new kind of immigrant who wants the same rights and
privileges. Only they want to achieve it by playing with a different set of rules,
one that includes the entitlement card and a guarantee of being faithful to their
mother country. I'm sorry, that's not what being an American is all about. I
believe that the immigrants who landed on Ellis Island in the early 1900's deserve
better than that for all the toil, hard work and sacrifice in raising future
generations to create a land that has become a beacon for those legally searching
for a better life. I think they would be appalled that they are being used as an
example by those waving foreign country f**gs.
And for that suggestion about taking down the Statue of Liberty, it happens to mean
a lot to the citizens who are v****g on the immigration bill. I wouldn't start
talking about dismantling the United States just yet.

Wow, more right wing revisionist history. Are you trying to say that Catholic Irish that came to this country did not constantly put forth their heritage as something to be proud of and do so still today? What about Italian Americans? same thing.

Yeah I actually read it and saw it as the lie that it is. You didn't bother to answer the questions about the Irish and Italians that prove it is a lie.
You probably also believe that when you were younger all students sat quietly in their desks waiting to absorb knowledge at 100%. That would not be true either.

So, the observation of this letter-writer is that the immigrants who came in 1900 were the good immigrants wanting to give their children a new life. This was life before entitlements. The current wave are the bad immigrants wanting to give their children a new life but also insisting on the entitlement card.

In a land of 350 million good Americans, we should be able to assimilate 15 or 20 million new-comers seeking the good life. It might be time to stop whining about all the i******s among us and start enforcing our existing laws regarding employment. All applicants must be "legal."

And it is shameful that the progeny of this once great Country hasn't the ethos of their progenitors.

The downfall of our Country began with the 'Baby Boomers' and has been going downhill ever since.

The 'Greatest Generation' wanted a far better life for their offspring than they had had for themselves, consequently giving to them rather than instilling in them the ethos of the self-satisfaction one will gain by having earned one's own way in life.

What it actually accomplished was to eng****r the advent of the 'seven deadly sins' into their collective psyche's. They have no love for country, only a narcissistic love for themselves. They have been brainwashed into a 'm**************m' mindset which is the nexus for the genesis of our Countries eventual collapse and demise.

What did they do that proved it to be a lie? As far as I know when the war broke out and our young adults were drafted they were drafted as well. When we fought the war we all fought together at least that is what my uncles told me happened maybe they lied to me. My dad didn't make it because of a heart murmur and was spared the draft. We were German Americans and our family did change its name during the war and has remained changed to this day. I don't know as to what you are referring to. The Catholic Irish men were some of the strongest men and took jobs that others would not as far as I remember. In most of the large cities there were a lot of Irish police officers and a lot of the fighters of the day were also Irish decent. The Italians came over here and some started excellent Italian restaurants, some also were excellent tailors and shoe makers who learned their craft in Italy. But they also brought over the Mob or Mafia as well. We still have the Mob or Mafia in every large city in the U.S. and they take in large amounts of money from their racketeering. So if these are not the things to remember then please enlighten us here.

I do recall us all trying to fight together, except us w****s trying to stop the b****s.
But, to answer your question. your article was about how the others came here stood in line and assimilated quietly and left their culture behind. The t***h is extremely far from that. First, the w***e A******ns called them all the same negative names that we do to the Mexicans. Second they called them drunkards, lazy, and womanizers. They were not even allowed to apply for many jobs. Try to learn some real history!

I know all that and prefer to concentrate on the positives and the Catholic Irish Americans fought back and gained a reputation that they would take on however many and fight for each other. They have since merged into the American culture and in the beginning they took on jobs that others refused. They laid an awful lot of track for the railroad as I remember. I'm not to sure as to all of the Italians problems but there were basically two distinct classes of Italians as I said those the worked hard and made a loving and then there was the Mafia. Name calling has been around forever and most people survive name calling its the shooting and stabbing that is harmful.
