I have dogs in my ears

Two large and ferocious dobermans. As soon as they sniff or perceive the nearness of the blankety-blank (fill in the blank), they start barking loud and relentlessly. Wh**ever the blankety-blank (fill in the blank) may say, I never hear a word. Just as well, they have nothing worthwhile to say anyway, being both evil and dumb. And if they are stupid enough to move any closer, "Sic'em!" will be the last thing they hear.

I have two barkers and one biter, but the dogs are more of an alarm system.

If the dogs have been known to bite, you are in for a major lawsuit if either one bites anyone. the fact that you are proud that they are aggressive makes it apparent that you are aware of the liability.I would suggest that you keep them behind six foot fences and have a double handled lead on a strong choke collar if you have them outside their six foot fence.

In keeping with the dog "metaphor"....my beloved German Shepherd, Dakota....didn't matter if the threat was real or not. Dakota's perception, with anyone or anything he didn't know, if they came any closer than 10 feet to me, they were putting themselves in harm's way. In 99.9% of the instances that occurred, it was Dakota's perception, not a reality, that I was in danger.

I think it is that way when it comes to 'life' in general. If we deem our values or belief systems 'at risk', the brain starts shutting down all but basics, relying on a mantra of rote at all cost. Count me 'guilty as charged.'

Addendum to what I said above. OPP is a lot like those two Dobermans loudly barking. The louder and more insulting someone gets, in focusing on their rejection of another's opinion, the less likely the recipient is to attempt to hear what 'the other' is trying to say if indeed they are trying to express an actual opinion. Of course, there are times that the extremely loud one might be merely sending a "I can't hear you" message like we did when we were children, figuratively now as adults, holding our hands over our ears.

Sorry, was speaking metaphorically. It was meant for all those who are so aggressively partisan they would k**l rather than listen to the opposition.
