Tax refund fraud

In the recent past there have been a number of fraudulent income tax returns filed, with refunds going to the crooks. They get hold of a name and SSN along with other info and file a fraudulent return showing a large refund and have the refund sent to the crook. When the person actually entitled to the refund files, he is notified that the return has already been received, processed, and the refund made. The legitimate tax payer is then apprentlt SOL.

The government forces people to pay income tax in advance through withholding or estimated tax payments. That should make the government responsible and accountable for safeguarding the money they forced the citizen to pay. But apparently the government employees assume no responsibility for the money they have forced taxpaters to pay.

As far as I know, the legitimate taxpayer whose refund is sent to a crook, he is probably never going to get his money back.

...all the more reason that we should all pay taxes, if everyone pays taxes we will force better stewardship of our money.

My point is that 75% pays little to no taxes. This "population" is not invested in the government. Ask anyone who owns rental property how much their tenants care about taking care of the facility or household. My point is that no one has any skin in the game so no one cares about how f#@%^ed up Washington behaves. So either we pay no taxes or everyone pays something. Change will come....

Another good reason to implement The Fair Tax when the Gang of 535 do the "comprehensive tax reform." thing.

Quid Pro Quo, Dummy Boy: A solution that would work for me and correct the problem, would be to make it a contractual requirement that anyone applying for and accepting welfare would contractually agree to suspend their v****g rights and be taken off the v****g registrations, until the next e******n a year after they got off the public welfare. Let the folks paying the welfare do the v****g, not the folks receiving it. Seems equitable and just to me. Just sayin.
