Progressive Pastor Gets It All Wrong on What It Means to be. Gary DeMar
While it seems that incidents of homosexuals bashing anybody who disagrees with them have died down, dont think that the Gaystapo is not planning more assaults.
The latest assault comes from Rev. Chuck Queen. Rev. Queen (his real name) is the senior pastor at Immanuel Baptist Church in Frankfort, Kentucky. Hes the author of Being a Progressive Christian (is not) for Dummies (nor for know-it-alls): An Evolution of Faith.
While Rev. Queen went to a conservative Bible college and seminary, he has since taken a different path. Rev. Queen is a self-professed liberal who prefers to be identified as a progressive. He writes that he makes no claim to be a moderate.
Hes addressed a number of issues from the progressive perspective. His latest is on same-sex marriage debate and Religious Freedom Restoration Acts: To Christians who support RFRA laws: Grow Up!
Heres Queens latest assault:
Are you as weary as I am in hearing all these well-to-do, materially prosperous and secure American Christians whining about being religiously persecuted because they cannot act on their exclusive theology in the marketplace and deny services to our L**T sisters and brothers?
To all my financially secure, well-off persecuted Christian friends: Please, let it go. Give it up!
Im always amazed when progressives tout how progressive they are and then start spewing a whole lot of nonsense that is mostly regressive.
The bakers, florists, and photographers who have stood fast on their very sound belief that same-sex marriage is irrational, contrary to nature, and sinful are hardly well-to-do and materially prosperous, and any way, what does their net worth have to do with anything?
Rev. Queen fails to note that its his fellow progressives who are crybabies and tyrants -- a veritable witches brew of tyranny. So somebody refused to bake a cake for their faux-sex wedding. W-a-a-a-a-h!
If they were really the self-righteous progressives they claim to be, they would have taken their business elsewhere. Live and let live. Hasnt that been the motto of the homosexual rights movement?
Rev. Queens next comment demonstrates how blind some progressives can be:
It doesnt matter what your worldview is, or what your religious beliefs are: in the public arena, you have to treat everyone equally. This is not rocket science. Its the best of our democracy.
Really? Is it democratic in a democracy to discriminate against certain worldview beliefs and behaviors? A black owner of a printing company would be within his worldview rights to discriminate against someone who wanted signs supporting a KKK march. Should an advertising firm accept all advertising requests no matter what is being advertised? Name me a single business that does this, Rev. Queen.
There is no need to repeat these types of examples because they have been reported on over and over again. Even some pro-homosexual progressives have noted that it is proper to say no to a business request based on worldview beliefs.
Rev. Queen continues:
Besides, even if you do think same-sex marriage or partnership is wrong, shouldnt you still welcome and accept everyone, the way Jesus did? He didnt require prostitutes and tax collectors to stop doing what they were doing before he fed them and accepted them at the table.
Jesus did welcome everybody, and the people He met who were involved in some sin were reproved by Him. The Samaritan woman (John 4:7-42), the woman caught in adultery (John 8:1-11), the rich young ruler (Matt. 19:16-22) are well-noted examples of Jesus dealing with sin. If Jesus met a same-sex couple, He would have said what He said to the woman caught in the act of adultery: From now on sin no more (John 8:11). Are we to imagine that He would have honored their "wedding" by making a cake with Congratulations scrawled in icing? I don't think so.
No one denied service to homosexuals. No one refused to bake a cake for homosexuals. These companies did, however, refuse to accommodate a ceremony that they believed is contrary to Gods Word. And in a democracy, nobody should be forced to support something that he or she believes is immoral.
Too Stupid to know it!
