Senator Rubio was asked by a Latino anchor if he would attend a gay wedding. One has to realize that he is a declared Candidate for President. At first, he rambled: "I am a devout Catholic, and do not believe in divorce, but, if someone I loved was divorced, no, I would still love that person". When asked again if he would attend a gay wedding if the person was in his family, his extended circle of friends, etc., he finally said, "Yes, I would" . And a caveat - encore. "I do NOT endorse same sex marriage, but....". What do you all think? And I'm ready for your baiting rants, Tea Party folks. :-D  :P 8-)

Whoever said that Christians have the duty, or right, to hit everyone over the head with their Bibles and or Religion. As I am a Christian, I realize that the teachings of Christ are totally not about judging or punishing others. It is about your relationship with Christ.

Dance - I think Rubio is being a politician who wants to get elected in a country that has a very hard time with ambiguity.

It's sad that the current environment makes him feel he can't express what is clearly a personal view of loving support for fellow humans while at the same time struggling with how his faith guides his life.

Everyone seems to want black and white positions, when most of the reality of life is much more messy and grey.

I like Marco Rubio. He'd be 10 times as good as what we have now - he actually loves this country and its founding principles. If he becomes the GOP nominee, I'd support him 100%. However, his weak, rather wishy-washy stand on this issue softens my support for him in this primary season. At least he states that there is no fundamental "right" to same sex marriage (i.e. the right to re-define marriage). Once we start re-defining marriage, where do we stop? Marriage was created by the same One who gave us rights - God. He created it; he defined it. Our country was founded on this principle: Rights come from our Creator (God) and government is created to protect those rights. If He calls homosexuality an a*********n, that means there is no fundamental "right" to it. We can make it "legal" but cannot change what is right and wrong. It would be best if government got out of marriage altogether and left it to churches and other religious institutions. Non-religious "unions" could be covered by legal contracts, but don't call them marriage. IMHO

Mike - for about a thousand years there were folks who believed that monarchy and the right to rule was defined by God as a divine right. Citizens certainly have had no problem redefining that institution to better serve their needs. It's time to revisit marriage and clarify its guardrails as well.

God has already defined marriage as a man and a woman uniting together under Him as the head. There is no need to redefine anything.

Perhaps that definition works for you, but there are a lot of people for whom it is no longer valid. I'm not certain who gave you authority to make the rules, but I believe the institution of marriage is strengthened by the inclusion of same-sex couples.

God made the rules. I never claimed authority. God is the authority.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Why castigate them when it is given?

I usually don't engage in such nonsense as this thread, but since I have jumped in this time, I need to ask.

Were you eavesdropping when God spoke to me? How do you know what He said to me?

You may have been listening to Satan. God has clearly stated His position in His Word. He has and will never tell anyone that homosexual-ism or the idea of gay marriage is acceptable. He defined marriage and homosexual-ism is an a*********n to Him. God is the creator. He describes Himself to us. He makes the rules. We may not always agree with the rules but if we go against the rules then we must suffer the consequences. God tells us sin leads to death. He wants us to have life abundantly here on earth and eternal life after our time here. God's rules are given to us because He loves us and wants the best for us. We do not have the power or the right to make up our own rules that are in defiance of God. That is foolish. I truly hope you surrender your life and your will to Him. I pray you acknowledge that Jesus died on the cross in your place for your sins so that you would be found acceptable to God. I pray you repent of your sins and make every effort to follow Him. I pray you have an intimate personal relationship with Him. I pray He teach you to love Him and to love others.

God doesn't love us more or gays less, his love is unconditional. It is up to the individual whether or not they seek to let his spirit dwell within them.

Nor is it up to us to say that one person has more or less God given rights than the next person.

The question for the governement is constitutionally where does one person's rights end and another's begins.

Does the governement have the right to give one person or group providence over another person's or group of people rights to live their life's according to their believes.
