U.S. to file complaint over 'unsafe' intercept by Russian fighter jet
http://www.cnn.com/2015/04/11/europe/russia-u-s-plane-intercept/index.html(CNN)After a Russian fighter jet intercepted a U.S. reconnaissance plane in an "unsafe and unprofessional manner" earlier this week, the United States is complaining to Moscow about the incident.
An RC-135U Combat Sent, was intercepted in an unsafe and unprofessional manner earlier this week, the Pentagon says. The RC-35U provides strategic electronic reconnaissance information to the president, secretary of defense, Department of Defense leaders and theater commanders, according to the Air Force. On Tuesday, a U.S. RC-135U was flying over the Baltic Sea when it was intercepted by a Russian SU-27 Flanker. The Pentagon said the incident occurred in international airspace north of Poland.
The U.S. crew believed the Russian pilot's actions were "unsafe and unprofessional due to the aggressive maneuvers it performed in close proximity to their aircraft and its high rate of speed," Pentagon spokesman Mark Wright said.
I wonder how close to that line they got? Any good photographs to pass around?

In international airspace every nation has equal right to be there. The Russian did no harm to the U.S. aircraft.
No harm, but I bet... only because I was in the AF and tracked conversations that our plane was a might too close and was there to survey the "current" conditions. And I bet we were testing the water, in other words do they have "ground movement." Obama is angry with Putin again. One does not know.

It wouldn't be the first time that an intercept plane ran into one of ours. While it is true that in international air space anyone has the right to be there, there are still regulations on how close they can come to one another. These intercepts should never put another plane in danger of a collision.
