You misused the word progressive. I think it is progressive political thought that took those parts of the good old days away from us. I wonder how many little boys these days know about the taste of soap for using foul language. I remember so well that my brother and I knew the taste well and we never told our mother than P & G laundry soap was out favorite taste and most hand soap we didn't like. She thought that laundry soap must be the most foul and we didn't want her to know about it.

I remember kids in the early 40s getting their behinds pounded by teachers for talking like they do today. Those were surely the good old days in those respects.

Now remember that the word progressive belongs to what once were called liberals, but they prefer being called progs to libs.

I can't believe the filthy language in the movies and tv these days. I run a public business and I hear only a person using filthy language now and then. I notice that they don't start with the dirt until about thirty minutes into the show. I guess they think, they got you hooked by then, but I just flip over to sponge bob or something else that is not full of bad words and sex. What is so interesting in sex.. Almost everybody does it. Its been here from the start. Even the birds and the bees do it. Why in the world do we have to watch two lovers in bed making out in the movies. It has nothing do with the movie and you have to set with your small child or grand child looking at this filth. If you got to be a pervert watch porn, somewhere else. There is plenty out there. Give us decent people descent stuff.

I like the History channel and the discovery channel as well as some of the other channels in that area. I also enjoy watching golf and football. Every once in awhile I might watch a reality show like America's got talent or something Shark week was good as always and then there was a series on North America. The Blue ocean series is very interesting and then you can get into the outdoor series of hunting and fishing if your interests go there. I hardly ever watch the main channels except for local news and weather and like I said an occasional reality series on TV. When I am with the grandkids they like the spongebob shows but they are starting to out grow those shows now. Myth Busters is kinda fun and then if you like firearms there is top gun and some shows that build different guns but they do use words on occasion that are not appropriate for kids but they are bleeped out. Another show you might like is Duck Dynasty with the Robinson family and they are all Christians.

One of the most stupid shows are those survivor shows. The guy or guys state in them that if they get bit by a snake or hurt some way they could die. Oh please, there has to be a crew with them, such as camera man and carriers of all the equipment and you know that they have medical people with them. I feel like an i***t, when I try to watch one of them. Stick the fork in me and turn me over, I'm done Like you, I like the shows you mention.

As far as TV is concerned when evening arrives I watch HGTV and A & E more than any of the others. Those reality shows like they have on the History Channel just aren't reality for the reasons you stated. Oh well it will soon be football time and my favorite period, college basketball, will begin about 3 weeks earlier this year than before. There are always lots of those games and I like them better than any other sporting events.

I like you am a football fan as well as golf nut. I almost wonder sometimes if the left isn't propagating sports to keep our eyes off of politics so we won't be watching over their shoulders. I know in the old days (here we go again) we didn't have the distractions that we do today and we had different outings with the relatives at various times of the year. I can well remember the men sitting around and either having a beer or smoking and arguing about politics and politicians. I'm wondering if maybe we have become to complacent about everything and thus we are in this pickle that we are in today. I saw the one about out in San Diego CA. that they were asking people to sign a bill to support infanticide to help lower healthcare costs and people were not only signing it but some of them even had little children with them. I look at these videos and I walk away and my only thought is that we are doomed. They sign petitions to do away with the bill of rights. They sign petitions for euthanasia. I honestly believe that they would sign a petition to sell us to Russia, they are that stupid.

You may well be right about all this but surely we haven't become too complacent. I know the leaners haven't since they are able to quote their leaders so well.

All they have to do is memorize a couple of phrases and keep repeating them over and over again sort of like in the olden days when the needle would get stuck in the record groove. I hope that you can remember that as I am showing my age a bit.
