APPLE VALLEY — A man was beaten by at least five San Bernardino County Sheriff's deputies Thursday afternoon after being taken into custody at the end of a three-hour-long pursuit that involved a stolen horse, a vehicle pursuit of a blue Dodge sedan and a foot chase through the Deep Creek Spillway near Highway 173.

In a video obtained by NBC4, five deputies are seen punching, kicking and hitting the suspect in the head more than 20 times as they apprehended him around 3 p.m. Thursday.

Scanner traffic reported just before 3 p.m. Thursday that the suspect, who had been riding a stolen horse for most of the pursuit, had dismounted his horse and had been arrested. In the NBC4 video, the suspect is seen falling off of his horse before being stunned with a Taser at least twice. After falling to the ground, the suspect extends his arms and puts them behind his back. At that point, three deputies begin kicking and punching him in the face and stomach before two more come over and join in. By the end of the incident one dozen deputies are huddled around the suspect who is still lying on the ground. Scanner traffic reported medical aid was called for the suspect around 3:15 p.m.

According to scanner traffic, three deputies were also injured in the pursuit and were strewed along the pursuit route. One was reportedly suffering from dehydration near the beginning of the pursuit route, another had a possible neck injury and another allegedly had back pain and trouble breathing. The three were being flown out of the area for medical attention around 3:09 p.m.

According to scanner traffic, San Bernardino County Sheriff's deputies were attempting to serve a search warrant at a home in unincorporated Apple Valley around 12:15 p.m. when the man allegedly ran from the home and into a blue Dodge sedan. The man refused to yield to deputies, and the pursuit began around 12:20 p.m. in the area of Laguna Seca and Standing Rock roads. The pursuit continued onto southbound Central Avenue and into Apple Valley Town limits briefly, before continuing south to Bowen Ranch Road. The pursuit reached speeds of 70 mph on paved roads, and 50 mph on the dirt roads south of Bowen Ranch Road.

The Sheriff's Department helicopter was requested to assist with the pursuit around 12:50 p.m., but scanner traffic reported the helicopter coming from the valley was unable to assist due to mechanical issues. The California Highway Patrol helicopter arrived around 12:45 p.m. to assist deputies who were now pursuing the suspect in the area near Deep Creek Hot Springs. The suspect fled from the vehicle on foot around 12:50 p.m.

At 1:50 p.m., scanner traffic reported that the suspect was on a stolen horse and deputies were on foot and on dirt bikes in the creek near the Deep Creek Spillway. Sheriff's officials said the suspect had been on and off of the horse, but it was unclear exactly how he got it. Scanner traffic reported the horse was brown with a saddle.

The Sheriff's Department helicopter was later able to assist, pick up injured deputies and drop deputies into the remote area where the pursuit was occurring.

Scanner traffic reported the suspect had been apprehended around 2:55 p.m. The horse was also found safe, and deputies are working on getting the horse back to its owner.

No,,, we dont h**e anything, we use reason and a process to go through all situations,,, sometimes the process works well, sometimes not,,,,

Still, no leftie i***t, you especially, has suggested a process that would work better....

You just want a different ROE for b****s where they cant be accosted, arrested or shot??? That is dumber than your normal tripe.

"A recent study by Washington State University-Spokane, which barely received any news coverage, found that police were more likely to hesitate when shooting a black suspect due to “real-world concern over discipline, liability or public disapproval. Cops are 25 times less likely to shoot unarmed b****s than w****s or Hispanics, according to a little-known study ” Alex Jones,,,,http://www.infowars.com/shock-study-cops-25x-less-likely-to-shoot-unarmed-b****s-than-w****s/

You Leftie whores, dont want the t***h,,, that is why you are ens***ed by the left,,, you have abandoned civility and reason,, and yet it is a wonder to you that your community is in collapse!!??!!

It isnt surprising to anyone else,, guess you are just dense...

The "t***h" isnt dependent on your point of view,,, what a revelation!!

I guess being beaten is better than being shot in the back.
Law enforcement training ain't what it used to be.

Most indians I have seen get their heads split by cops deserved it.... or at least didnt take the proper precautions to prevent it.

When I came upon a PFC on his guard post,,,, he was in charge,,, cause he was on duty, under orders, and had a gun.... my rank,, was not to be confused with his authority,,, an imbecile like khhzero, who never led men, will never understand that...

Actually.

The deputies should be offered thanks for saving the dudes life.

If you were really paying attention you would see the bad guy ran out of the brush with a huge rattle snake wound around his leg and another around his neck.

The deputies were risking their own lives trying to k**l the snake by beating it off him.

Just goes to show you.....
