I read that this morning. Along with another article headlined "Fines Are No Way To Fund The Courts."

It'll cut into their revenue.

The technology already exists to stop texting while driving. All they'd have to do is have the signal disable the phone while the car is moving.

I am convinced the low limits are to enable the police to stop anyone they choose as everyone exceeds the legal limit. I was driving 65 on the 55 limit Garden State Pkwy when I was pulled over. I was told to keep to the right, because cars were passing me on the right, and let go. Essentially I was pulled over for going too slow while 10 mph over the limit.

After reading a number of comments, it became obvious to me that, in order to avoid all these threats to your "freedoms," you might look into better t***sportation solutions. Having lived in NYC for many years, I realized that, with the mass t***sportation system, we arrived at our destinations without road stress. No worry about speed limits (tickets, fines, etc.) If one needed to arrive at a destination earlier, one left home earlier and took the subway.

To be philosophical, mass t***sportation would be healthier for a number of reasons - cleaner air, less stress on the heart, less aggravation. AND people would be forced (and then become used to) into slowing down. It would also prevent all this distrust, not only of the government but other people, and avoid thinking of methods of outdoing them.

A few years ago my pickup finally broke down to the point that repairing it would be much too expensive. Rather than doing the repairs, I purchased a tricycle (yes, an adult tricycle) with a large basket in the rear. This vehicle costs me no insurance premiums and no gas prices PLUS I have the opportunity to exercise while multi-tasking (getting to my destination). I now own an old, but gas-saving auto but prefer cycling if the distance is not too far.

Cycling brings one in contact with other cyclists who wave to each other and smile rather than showing the finger. It's a much nicer trip and accidents between vehicles are rare.

I did keep an old pickup mainly because I didn't care to have any agency being able to trace my trips and/or destinations. As we honestly can't get away from it, why not take advantage of the benefits it will bring. ;-) ;-) ;-)
