Let's see, want to build a fence around your home? Get a permit. Want to adopt an orphan? Spend 1000's of dollars, go through a lengthy vetting process and ask a court for permission. Get a personal ID number (SS#), get permission to drive your car (license), get permission to use your car ( registration ), get permission to take the car out of the driveway ( Liability insurance ). Pay a tax for buying your car, pay a tax for using your car, pay a tax for owning your car, pay a tax for all maintenance products and services.

Need surgery? Get permission from your insurer first. The list goes on. Don't mind me, we still live in the "freeist nation on earth" - except, it costs way to much to live here and you need someone's permission to do virtually anything you want to do and you're subject to arrest for any number of "infractions" that you had no knowledge of - but other than that - we're pretty free.
