Mika Goes to Germany

We finally got the ok for Mika to visit his Poppa at the military hospital in Germany. He is so excited. I'm not sure how much I will enjoy the flight. We leave in May.

We will stay with relatives, which makes him even happier. The Aunts have better stories. If my health holds out we will have a wonderful time. While there I will be trying a new MS treatment. I'll keep you posted how that works out.

He told his Poppa," I come to see you." His Poppa is excited. Little man is busy creating many finger paintings. Pray for me. A long flight with a baby.

I will indeed remember you in my prayers. And I will ask the elders to remember you and your family in their daily prayers.

I do not know where you are departing....but Germany, to Frankfurt is a very long trip from NYC. I hope you are taking a red eye.... that way you and the baby can sleep most of the way....and not much turbulence.

Your treatment, is that the one they process your own white blood cells? It sounds promising. I had a young girl who worked for me, she was diagnosed with MS and was waiting for a bed in Germany for the treatment. The last I heard, she is still waiting. Anyway, I wish you only the best and of course I will remember you.....

Thank you Pennylynn. I appreciate the prayers. Tell your young friend please don't give up. As I understand, they are having great success.

Let the young lady know if there is anything I can do to assist her just tell me. I would love to see this treatment available in the U.S.

Travel List for Mika:
Favorite Blanket (It can be cold on a plane.)
Favorite Stuffed Animal
Travel in favorite clothing outfit
Change of clothes in on plane bag (You never know!)
Favorite picture books
New toothbrush and kid friendly toothpaste (Is he doing teeth brushing yet? I cannot remember.)

You probably thought of it; however, check with the airline for child friendly meals and snacks. Make sure the travel on bag has acetatemenophin, rash cream, cold medications, etc. Again, you never know. Airlines will allow limited foods in your travel on bag. Take a few, just in case.

If you do not have one, spend the money for a rolling, light weight bag of the largest allowable size for the overhead compartment. You can get all the on plane needs in it. Separate his things into a bag inside your carryon for easy access.

Lecture now complete.

Thank you AuntiE. As always you have been very helpful. It has been a very long time since I traveled with a baby. I had forgotten some of your suggestions. Thank you once again.

Thank you so much. I really appreciate the kind words and the prayers. I know it is old fashioned but I believe in the power of prayer.

I admit I'm a little frightened about the treatment. Even if it does not help me, it may some day help a child or young adult. The more we can learn the better off we are.

The way you are looking at the treatment is commendable and the positive attitude should be helpful. May God go with you on the journey and hold you in His loving arms throughout treatments.

The treatment involves gene therapy as well. The grandkids are having a good time with that one. Hopefully, it will at least slow things down. The success rate is enough for me to gamble. If all else fails at least they will learn a few new tricks.
