Half-white Obama and deadbeat son upset Michelle's mom

What kind of r****t messages did the future Michelle Obama and brother Craig hear from Mother Robinson while growing up?

Long before Barack Obama became President, his mother-in-law (who has lived with the family in the White House since 2009) told a local reporter she was concerned when Michelle announced her engagement to a biracial man. In a soon-to-be-released biography of Michelle Obama, the author mentions a 2004 television interview with Marian Robinson. The future First Lady's mother was asked whether Barack's mixed race parentage bothered her.

From WTTW Chicago Tonight:

That didn’t concern me as much as had he been completely white…I guess that I worry about races mixing because of the difficulty — not for, so much for prejudice or anything, It’s just very hard.

So how did Marian feel when Michelle's brother, Craig Robinson, married a "completely white" woman in 2006?

In an NPR interview, Craig insists his mom and dad (who is deceased) would have judged his second wife on the content of her character, not on the color of her skin. But that's not what Marian said in 2004 about a biracial Obama. Did she change her mind about interracial marriages in 2006? Maybe not. Craig suggests his mother was just happy that a woman, any woman, even a white one, agreed to marry her son and get him and his two kids out of her house

From NPR:

Martin: There is one thing I did want to ask you about is your wife, with whom you seem very happy, is white.

Mr. ROBINSON: Yes.

MARTIN: And that's I think, your first wife was African-American and...

Mr. ROBINSON: Right.

MARTIN: ...I'm just interested in it, just because I think, as we know; there's been all this talk about Barack Obama and his heritage as a biracial man...

Mr. ROBINSON: Mm-hmm.

MARTIN: ...and his mother and his unusual family history, and I'm just wondering what do you think, of course, he's got a stepsister who is was I think born in Indonesia and...

Mr. ROBINSON: Right.

MARTIN: ...and your family is very diverse at this stage of our history. Yeah.

Mr. ROBINSON: Yeah. And well, they're two things I'd love to address with that. First of all, my mom and dad would have been appalled if I met someone like Kelly, my current wife, and she turned out to be as nice and as loving as she is and I didn't give her a chance just because she was white. My dad would've been all over me about the double standard. Just because you're black doesn't mean you can be prejudiced. That's first and foremost.

The second thing is, after my first marriage, I think my mom was so worried that I would never meet another woman. She was just glad that whoever was happy to get to know a 30-something year old guy who had just changed his career from investment banking to basketball coaching, living upstairs from his mom with two kids and bald headed. You know, she just thought oh, she likes him. She's a keeper.

The progressive media’s obsession with race, no matter how tiresome, does occasionally elicit some interesting responses. For instance, did Craig Robinson marry a "completely white" woman to stick it to his disappointed and ego-busting mother?

And if Marian was willing to admit publicly in 2004 that she was not happy with Barack having a white mother, we can only surmise Craig and Michelle must have gotten an earful about white people behind the closed doors of the Robinson home. After the release of the WTTW video, the question is: What kind of r****t messages did the siblings hear from Mother Robinson while growing up?
