We each can make this world a little colder or warmer for our neighbor. That is are two choices in society: exclusion or welcome.

Thank you. Curious my welcome is by the one voice here that I found over the last month to be "the best and the brightest" and most decent. No one else comes close. Sorry, but this is utterly thrilling to me. Thank you again, slat.

I like it. Such a simple solution, well perhaps not as simple as it seems, with all the seeds of mistrust planted, but hands reaching across the great chasm of darkness, with no hesitancy, firmly gripping another hand offered....

I agree, but not all are as decent as you, Searching.

It is no coincidence that Congress is merely a microcosm of the general populace. There are too many steely-eyed zealots, and not enough willing to work together. The old phrase of 'my way or the highway' comes to mind.

Indeed. Something else to consider.....a friend sent me a quip this morning that brought up a concept I hadn't considered...."the reason Congressmen work so hard to get reelected is because they don't want to live under the laws they pass." There never seems to be many consequences for zealots or the power hungry corrupt.

As a Texan, Alex, I have always found my 10-gallon hat to be quite adequate ...with room to spare.

Your comment brings to mind another old phrase, "Do as I say....not as I do." :?
