The Apostle Paul warned the churches in Rome, Corinth, Galatia, Philippi, Collose, Ephesus, and Thessalonica about denying the Word of God. Seems our churches today are not getting the message.

"Put on the whole Armor of God . . . . . "

Who cares?
This is something the Presbyterians have decided to do based on their understanding of how they live their faith.
Unless one is a Presbyterian, I can't imagine what right anyone has to question their decision. I thought conservatives were all about the freedom of religious expression.

As to undermining a conservative interpretation of the Bible, all I can say is, it sounds like the writer of this article has very little faith in the power of the Bible.

It is abundantly clear that the Bible condemns homosexual behavior.

It also condems judging others, bearing false witness, & lying, to mention a few. It also tells us to love one another as we love God.

Being a former member of the PCUSA, I, personally, was against it allowing L**T people in positions of authority within the church (ministers, deacons, elders) because of what the Bible states regarding homosexuality. However, I wouldn't hesitate to worship alongside an L**T person as I believe that their sins are no greater or less than mine are in God's eyes. As such, I won't condemn them for being L**T.

Also, there is medical evidence to merit the claim that some people are "born" that way. If that's the case, how does one mesh that with the comment, "made in God's image?"

My wife and I have openly gay relatives, whom we love dearly. How they decide to, or feel they must, live their lives is between themselves and God. Their lifestyles aren't ours to judge. We are COMMANDED to, "... love God with all of your heart and with all of your soul. And the 2nd is like the 1st, to love your neighbor like yourself."

BTW - I didn't leave the PCUSA over the L**T issue. I left it because I felt their adherence to their Book of Order, regarding the Sacraments, was taking precedence over the book they claim as the "ultimate authority," the Bible; at least in the presbytery that I was affiliated with.

1Corinthians 5:9-13:

"I have written you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people--

"not at all meaning the people of this world who are immoral, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters. In that case you would have to leave this world.

"But now I am writing you that you must not associate with anyone who calls himself a brother but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or a slanderer, a drunkard or a swindler. With such a man do not even eat.

"What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside?

"God will judge those outside. "Expel the wicked man from among you."

There are many scholars who believe the condemnation of homosexual behavior is at least a misinterpretation, and at worst an admonition specific to place and time (like eating pork.)

Condemn the sin, embrace the sinner.

Any Christian church that succumbs to political correctness and performs gay marriages is not only condoning the sin, it is sanctifying it. It is giving God's blessing to a sinful act and defying Jesus command to "go, and sin no more."

Ah, the wiles of the wicked one.

Or perhaps they are just coming into a new, deeper understanding of God's intent for humanity.

What would you know about that? Do you have some special relationship with God that you can speak for him?

A general reply to the topic: More Ignorance Of The Bible

Whenever a nation that has been blessed by God turns their back on Him, this condition is foretold:

"The days are coming," declares the Sovereign LORD, "when I will send a famine through the land-- not a famine of food or a thirst for water, but a famine of hearing the words of the LORD." Amos 8:11
