The Political Forum posts becoming dirty and disrespectful to everybody.

We can't have a decent and real conversation in the Political Forum without a faulty language, insults, lying, and attacking other people with different ideas.

Becoming
?

That's what this board is and always has been. A very lightly moderated board. What comes with that is a lot of offensive noise.

There's lots of more heavily moderated boards on the internet. Maybe you should check those out. They may be more suited to your delicate sensibilities.

But if you want the freedom to speak your mind and express your feelings, you just have to put up with not everyone having your polite personality.

Funny how discussing politics and religion will do that.

You've never heard that politics is dirty? People who want everyone to agree on everything are dreaming about something that is impossible - and, in my view, undesireable.

Difference is what makes life liveable. Enjoy it, and hold on to what you value because you may be the ONLY ONE valuing it.

...faulty language or filthy? I agree: grammar on this site, like most of the brains are left at the front door like a pair of dirty shoes.

There are some, like myself, that tend to post a little sarcasm into the situation that is seen as an insult. I certainly don't mean it that way.

I find that if the incorrect website or source is provided that typically insults fly, but I can dish it out.

If there is any way you can help, it is to seek a courteous position and then if that doesn't work: abandon the thread.

I have been called a liberal by many on this board. That's funny because I was kicked off the Thom Hartmann message board 5 times over 4 years (I could easily get back on under another name and IP address) for being too conservative. Go figger.

The Political Forum conversation is deteriorating with the messages from the right-wing nuts lying and insulting other people with different ideas.

I have to agree, that the only time I see liberals complain about barbs is when a conservative, who likes to pretend he/she is above all that, demonstrates that they're anything but.

Conservatives hit below the belt constantly and whine when someone uses even the slightest sarcasm. They're pussies.

I've moderated numerous boards over the years and conservatives hit the report button 5X's more, but are at least equally guilty of violations.

Liberals don't tend to report unless the offender does something like make veiled threats and such.

Agreed. But, this is the nature of this board. This place has an an inordinate amount of RW extremist due to the fact that most other boards that strive for civil discourse ban r****ts and their h**eful language.

The owner here lets them get as r****t and sexist and h********c as they want.

You and your ilk wouldn't know civil discourse if it hit you in the face with its nutsack! So, let's drop the pretense of civility. You neither have the inclination nor the capacity for such triviality.

Fact is, both sides have a healthy disdain for one another's ideology and most get off on it. Hurling epithets at one another has become a sport in and of itself over the decades. But, with the advent of the internet and social media, it's become quite the spectator sport. I find it amusing at times, but tire of it quickly. It doesn't advance the ball one way or the other but only serves as an outlet to anonymously "pimp-slap" someone that is perceived to deserve it from time to time.

Which is why I don't frequent OPP very often. Oh, I'll go through stints, probably from boredom (like now), where I'll engage in a little sparring just to keep the tool sharp. But in all actuality, it's a total waste of time....you know, like telling a "progressive liberal" that he's really a socialist coward hiding behind an innocuous label so as not to scare the kiddies.

Queue the vitriol in 5...4...3...
