Now....before you Liberals' heads begin to spin around and you run out of pea soup to spit on others... It is not yet a done deal, it still needs the governor's signature.

Lawmakers in Utah have passed a billing that would allow firing squads to be used for executions if there is a shortage of execution drugs, The Associated Press reported.

The bill goes to Gov. Gary Herbert, who hasn’t said if he will sign it, AP said. If it becomes law, Utah would be the only state to allow the execution method.

The state Senate v**ed 18-10 Tuesday for the practice, which had been abandoned by Utah more than a decade ago, the wire service said.

They had a very big problem getting people to make up that firing squad in the past, that is why most states did away with it. Most people are not willing to pull that trigger, even on a very bad guy. Now if it were obama standing in front of it, that would be a different matter. You would have to beat them off with a big stick. A very big stick..............

I can understand why. And this bill is odd because it makes the firing quad mandatory if the drugs are not available. I think that this is a back door way to end capital punishment. If you really think about it, the drugs are not made in the USA, they are made in Europe. And Europe has had an issue with the use of the drugs (okay to k**l grandmother/father, depressed individuals, and others; but not okay to k**l a murder) they have now stopped supplying them. The last drugs coming from South America were inadequate, taking as long as four hours for death to occur.... the electric chair has been deemed inhumane and so has the gas chambers.... what method remains, firing squad. No one will pull the trigger.... then what, right no capital punishment. And that leaves prisons that are already over crowed, which will be deemed inhumane and then that leaves the release of lessor criminals such as rapist, robbers, attempted murder, and so on...until the prisons only have murders and then there will be over crowding and what....release them too? An interesting problem. Reminds me of an old movie, Escape from NY. The island was turned into a penal colony for the very bad... And that is not too bad of an idea.... OZ has turned out some mighty fine people!!!

this issue with firing squads is mute ...tha last time a firing squad was used the guns (5) i think it was,, were remotely fired , push the button and bad guy gone,,,makes perfect sense...5 shots $10 who's next... all executions should be televised live and re-run for 24 hours...this is a heads up for bad guys..and it is impressive, VERY IMPRESSIVE
