D o g s have owners. Cats have staff. Our cats stand up or race to a window, and growl if they hear a noise in close vicinity to our abode.

All this argueing for naught IMO.
We have 4 quadrapeds with fur coats running around here, and 3 MUST sleep inside.
Dog, cat.....doesn't matter.

It was not the picture. It was the rude denigrating comments about cats. I have two cats who respond to voice commands, as have previous cats who owned me. A responsible feline parent has their animal spayed or neutered to avoid the heat and spraying issues. There are many varieties of scratching posts, as well as products to prevent furniture damage.

I would rather deal with litter then the worrying about what kind of weather Imhave to trudge through for d o g potty time. I would rather fill the food feeder and water dispenser once a week because felines understand how to eat. We will not speak of how much dog hair my neighbors have to clean daily.

It would seem your son is brighter then his somewhat suspect father.   :D

Actually, ALL of the complaints I mentioned about cats originated with the 2 cats our son brought into our house when he and his 2 daughters lived with us for about a year and a half. The cats tore up our wallpaper and our furniture with their scratching, our half-bath STILL smells like cat urine and feces (3 years later), there are still urine stains on parts of our carpet that won't come out, they sprayed everywhere, marking their territory, and if you go to the son's house, he complains of the same things. Yet, he still has the same two cats. He, finally, got them de-clawed in their front paws and neutered.

As I said, Daddy-kitty, is a well tempered cat, but the other borders on being feral. It's PSYCHO! Baby-kitty, until it was neutered, would go into heat every week, scream and howl, leave its blood dropped all over and even try to get our female dog to literally mate with her. (Such a s**t!) If anyone tried to pick it up, it would scratch and claw and bite its way out of your grasp, leaving you bloody. And and all you'd did was try to be nice to it.

So, no, cats aren't my most liked creature. However, if others like them, then that's on them. I'm glad you have better experiences than I/we did.

This is going to sound odd. Place a large whole opinion, cut in half, in the half bath. Supposedly it absorbs odors and removes them.

I am sorry your experience was so horrid. One of our current threesome is a tad neurotic; however, well behaved.

Tried that. Tried to wash down the walls with pine sol but had to be careful not to loosen the wall paper. The odor is strongest in the cabinet, under the sink. We'll need to re-wall paper the half-bath and, literally, tear out the cabinet and sink to get rid of the odor.

Like I said, they're not my favorite animal to have in a house.

I was just thinking of you. One of our four footers sleeps in the bathroom. I went to use the facilities. He stood up, walked over, lifted his head as far as it would stretch, started purring waiting for his chin and throat rub.

Next suggestion would be to buy full strength straight orange cleaner. Do not dilute it. Spray some in the cabinet and let it set awhile before wiping it out. It needs to be pure, straight orange cleaner.

Should I inquire why your son did not have the cats spayed and neutered?

He had just moved in with his parents (us) after his wife left him and their two little daughters for a drug dealer/child abuser/con artist and he'd been laid-off from his job as an editor at the local newspaper due to downsizing. His ex had wiped-out their savings and bank accounts, plus had maxed-out their credit cards before declaring her intentions.

His world had crashed all around him. He kept saying he'd get them taken care of, but what unemployment money he'd get went to medical insurance for his girls and legal expenses. They are his cats so we felt we needed to let him handle it. Getting him back emotionally and helping to find a job seemed our top priority.

Like I said, he's in his own house now, has a good job with the State, has a new car, and the same cats are no longer here. For the sake of good family relationships, some B & G sessions are best left to the Internet. :?

Outside of a breeding catery, I cannot imagine having an intact cat. Ours were spayed or neutered, always. The male was neutered when he was matured as the vet said that would lessen the bladder stone problem, and in 13 years he never had stones.

Under "normal" circumstances, I'd agree with you. The cats were taken into his house to help his girls (2 & 4 at the time) be distracted from their mother's abandonment of the family. At the time, getting them spayed/neutered wasn't exactly at the top of his priority list nor his budget.

Now wait just a minute! Before you go tearing things apart, they have something called Febreze pet oder remover. It's made for fabrics, but it just might work in the bathroom. Give it a try.

The wife has asthma issues with strong odors. Fabreeze exacerbates her breathing issues. She can't even go down the laundry aisle at a store nor walk by a Bath and Body Works store, that some smell doesn't cause her to have an attack. She and I had to quit wearing cologne years ago. I had to change body soaps because she became allergic to the aroma. It's a no-win situation. AuntiE, I/we sincerely do appreciate your efforts, though. It's very kind of you to be trying to help us.

I also react badly to Fabreeze, and cannot abide the stuff. We use OdoBan for the dogs bedding, as well as the laundry. Works well and doesn't seem to cause any allergic reactions.
