The House has failed to pass a three-week extension of funding for the Department of Homeland Security. The v**e was 203-224.

The department will run out of money at midnight, putting thousands of workers on furlough without pay. While Obama administration officials say short-term security impacts will be minimal, they warn of potential issues in the long-term.

The Senate earlier Friday cleared a "clean" DHS bill stripped of provisions opposed by Democrats that would have blocked President Barack Obama's recent executive orders on immigration.

Where you been? Thinking up more lies? The department does not run out of money. Most funding for DHS is from fees. They shouldn't furlough those. workers, let them go. Just another bloated government department. I will ask again. If DHS funding is not passed why is that so dangerous when millions of unvetted i******s cross our border every year?

If no funding is passed.....so what? Only unessential workers would be furloughed and if they are not essential, why are we paying them? And the i******s came through with the approval and encouragement of Obama...... So, we were paying DHS to watch the i******s come in and not do a damn thing about it....unless you consider putting out notices which mall will be bombed.

Can you read?

The v**e was 224-203 against the measure, as 52 Republicans defected and joined Democrats in opposing the leadership-backed legislation.

Dumb, dumb, DUMB!

Yep, 30,000 non-essential workers will be sent home. The other 200,000 will continue on their jobs without pay but will be paid retroactively when a bill is finally passed. The House showed it had the gonads to not pass the 'clean' bill which, in essence, is declaring de facto amnesty, whereas McConnell in the Senate proved he had no gonads. Since the 30,000 are non-essential, let them head to the unemployment office while seeking another cushy job. Being non-essential infers they are not needed, so eliminate their positions completely.

It was great to see 52 who put the good of the country ahead of the McConnell sellout to Harry Reid and Boehner got a hard smack in the face. Bravo for the 52. NOW maybe the R leadership will listen to the American People. NO AMNESTY!
