I think, perhaps, that we should consider whether or not the US has gotten so big in population that it can no longer be Republic. Take a look @ the Middle East (ME) where tribal loyalty, sectionalism and regionalism loyalty usurps Nationalism. I could suggest that sectionalism (E/W Costs vs South & mid section) has become paramount over Nationalism. Now, let's compare this theory with the Constitution. The 10th Amendment:---all numerated powers not granted here in shall be reserved to the states. The founders had a vision of limited government for they were under the control of a despot, King George 111. You can see that the 10th amendment has been violated for the past 100 years. The states have no rights left. The power of the people has been abducted by the Fed gov. This t***sition has been facilitated by the passage of the 17th amendment. If the states' legislatures still had control over their US Senators he Congress might function mush better. However, it should be acknowledged there was much corruption in the senate at the time the 17th was passed. Another left wing law that turn out worse than what it replaced. Progresses are like that. A better fix would have been to put the crooks in jail. We are still plagued with the crook cancer in politics. There are 14,000 lobbyist in Washington D. C. doling out hundreds of thousands of influence money, if not millions. $100 bottles of wind, 200 lunches, prostitutes, wh**ever money will buy to shower the gods (lower case not God).
