Watch Trey Gowdy's Warning To Dems On Immigration: 'Be Careful What You Do...'

Pete Kasperowicz

Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) on Wednesday warned Democrats and others that their support for President Barack Obama’s executive action on immigration will only undermine the rule of law, potentially in ways they’ll regret years from now.

“You may benefit from the president’s failure to enforce the law today,” Gowdy said at a House Judiciary Committee hearing on Obama’s action.

“But I’ll make you this promise,” he warned. “There will come a day where you will cry out for the enforcement of the law. There will come a day when you long for the law to be the foundation of this republic.”

“So you be careful what you do with the law today, because if you weaken it today, you weaken it forever,” he concluded.

Republicans have been fighting all week to defund Obama’s action, which Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) called “one of the biggest constitutional power grabs ever by a president.”

Goodlatte, Gowdy and other Republicans have said that the administration has the right to make immigration enforcement priorities. But they say it has no right to affirmatively reward i*****l i*******ts deemed to be lower priorities with legal protection and U.S. work permits, as Obama has proposed to do with up to 5 million i*****l i*******ts.

Goodlatte said at the hearing that a legal memo the administration drew up to explore its options admitted that Obama cannot “effectively rewrite the laws to match its policy preferences,” and that Obama ignored the legal advice he sought.

“The memo in fact is an indictment of President Obama’s actions,” he said.

Republicans have tried to defund Obama’s action in legislation funding the Department of Homeland Security. But on Tuesday, Senate Republicans indicated they would spit the two issues, a move that’s likely to be opposed by many conservatives who wanted that defunding language on a must-pass spending bill.

They may use that as an excuse, but I don't believe for a second that is the real reason. They simply think that they can get away with this and not do anything to him and it is because they don't want to. They think he is building a great government with him as it's head and NO e******ns. They may be partly right, but in the end, it is going to turn on them and bite them big time. Either they will impeach him, or this country will tear itself apart with another Civil War. The first time obama starts to really clamp down hard on people, all hell is going to break loose.

First take The blaze and stick it. 2nd Hooedy Doody Goody is a dumb SOB and has no idea about constituional law he was nothing but an ambulance chaser as an attorney. Even constituional law professor has said that the Repukes have no basis for a law suite. Presidence is the standard that will decide your foolish claim. So all they have to do is show Reagan's EO and the Bush EO that was actually real amnesty and there is no amnesty in the Obama EO and that is what makes it perfectly legal. But the TP i***ts on OPP have never bother to read the EO and just run with your stupid talking point created by Fox News that it's amnesty and it's not.

The TP has been trying now for almost 7 years with there crazy conspiracy theories and phony trumped scandals, spent over $78 million and have come up with nothing. Your saving grace after that s**t head Darrell Isa, Hoody Doody Goody the immature little jerk has nothing. So now your down to a few lies that were not actually lies. I am getting tired of these Repukes spending tax payer money for these foolish witch hunts to get the black guy in the White House. You have run out of Fox News talking points the boys and girls at Fox stopped talking about the same BS that they created. Get over it.

I can't wait to see what the lib's do when the self proclaimed mighty one declares martial law. Unless they like the idea of living in a FEMA camp, I hope they have their own means of protection. I won't be wasting my ammo to save them.
