Jesus said to His Apostles, I chose you, you did not choose me. Rev 13 vs. 8. Rev 17 vs. 8. Rev 20 vs. 11 to 20. After Adam and Eve sinned against God He said now they are like Us knowing good and evil. God knows evil but He doesn't practice evil. We do. That is what separates us from God. How can anybody choose God if they don't know they are Spiritually dead. God has to draw someone in order to save them . We don't know God until He shows Himself to us. Acts 13 vs. 48 shows us that god appoints eternal life. We do not take it. Jesus said nobody takes my life, I give it, and if I give it I can take it back. Can you do that.

I just have a problem with the belief that God picks and chooses who will be saved. People choose to believe. I believe what that verse actually means is that God reveals Himself to those who will accept Him. Take a certain female atheist on this site, for instance. She claims to have studied the Bible extensively, yet she refuses to believe in God. God did not reveal Himself to her, because He knew she would reject Him. I believe that's what it really means when it says that God chose us.
Someone once posted a question on here. He asked... if it was proven that God exists, and that every word of the Bible was true, would you repent and worship Him? Several people said no.

I believe your last paragraph is totally true. And that is Biblical because God gives mankind the right of free choice.
When Jesus talked about the narrow vs. the broad way, He said few would choose the narrow way, but many would choose the broad way.
God is Omniscient if He knows anything He knows everything.
Hyper Calvinist believe that God makes the decision as to who will be saved and who will not. If that were the case, then free will or free choice would be null and void. It would not be a consistent God who would do that.
By God knowing us before the foundations of the world to me at least means God knows who will and who won"t accept His offer of salvation.
God loves even sinners that don't accept Him because the Bible says He is not willing that any should perish. God has made the way to be reconciled back to Him, we make the choice to accept it or not. I am truly glad I chose to do it Gods way.

The study of the Bible is not the way to salvation. One can study the Bible all their lives and still be lost. They way to salvation is to confess our sins, accept Gods offer of salvation through His Son Jesus Christ, forsaking your sins and inviting Jesus to come dwell in your heart through the Holy Spirit.
Then and only then does the study of the bible become more than head knowledge, then it becomes head and heart knowledge.
Read 2 Cor. 4:3-4 and you will find that the god of this world has blinded the minds of those who are perishing. Their eyes are blinded because their minds are blinded.
Remember Jesus was saying quite often, let him who has eyes to see see, him who has ears to hear hear......
Some folks are not only blinded in their minds and eyes they also have ear problems. They are not hard of hearing, they are hard of listening.
