I guess, and thank you for not being insulting. I remember the birth of modern art and my grandmother. She and I went to a show, she stood there tilting her head one way and then the other, finally she smiled and simply said that the world has moved on without her. I now understand how she felt.

My sentiments also. Political statements are not art no matter how well they are executed.

Two of the most famous paintings in the world David's Death of Marat and Picasso's Guernica are obvious political statements. Public art including national monuments like the Lincoln Memorial and Mt. Rushmore are by their nature political. Very clearly some of the most important artwork in the world makes political statements.

That Lady out in the middle of the harbor in NY is one of my favorites.
Like music, there are lovers of every form.
Or as my old friend George used to say, there's an ahole for every seat.

The politics of the Death of Marat are scarcely comprehensible to anyone other than historians, concerned with the French Revolution; his stabbing when he was in his Oatmeal bath is a matter of record and his murderer did not leave the scene, She was tried and convicted of the crime. Picasso's Guernica was a quasi documentary of the atrocity commited by the German and Italian N**i/F*****ts in support of Franco's Nationalists. The village of Guernica in the Basque region was bombed, leveled, and the inhabitants strafed by fighter planes, to prevent the Republicans and C*******ts from using the Village to escape. I have seen the painting, its about 10 by 24 feet, extremely disturbing content, whether or not it is great art is a question.

The point of this is that both incidents portrayed were real events which occurred as depicted. The paintings of this artist on the other hand depict his opinion of the events, not the reality. It is propaganda, and in the instance of "hands up, don't shoot", lying propaganda. I know he didn';'t title it, but, not being brain dead or stupid I got the message. It is still lies.

And Thomas Jefferson, along with so many other s***e owners, didn't rape his s***e(s)?
Are you black? Do you have any idea what it is to be stopped on a daily basis just because you need to walk to your home from the subway station?
Have you ever bothered to do a search to see the documentation of stops?
I can only imagine the answer. It isn't propaganda, it is called building public awareness. It is the continuation of the battle that was dropped because progressives are willing to take that progress in small steps.
It is time for more steps. You are welcome to ignore the ine******y. You are welcome to remain buried in the ugliness of a broken system. You will simply be left behind.

Here we go, lets play the race card! Lets get one thing very clear, I did not rape your great grandma. I did not ens***e your ancestors. You do not have to be black to experience bigotry and racial or religious prejudice. There has never been a system where all men are equal in every respect, there are always inequalities, that is the nature of the beast and no amount of legislation will ever change that.

While this system is as broken as any other, it at least strives to provide an equal opportunity to all men to prosper, enjoy a free life and be happy. Every immigrant group which has come to this country has faced opposition, antipathy and discrimination. They have all assimilated and reached varying degrees of acceptance.

There is no "Black" nationality, it is time you joined the American ethos or decided where you want to live, other than here. I don't owe you or your brothers anything, wh**ever evils were done to your ancestors were not by my doing. Wh**ever evil is befalling members of your race at the current time appears to be brought on by illegal, antisocial behavior. Knee jerk endorsement of lying propaganda isn't going to change that.

How about if we take all of those tarred faces and research the crimes they committed to get where they are? Then we could paint pictures of destroyed families, children condemned to poverty because the breadwinner has been k**led or maimed by one of your tarry crew. Then we could juxtapose those paintings in the same exhibit and achieve some equitable balance of opinion.

The Jeromes he depicted may have been brutalized by incarceration, thats too bad. The purpose of incarceration is retribution for the evils committed, not rehabilitation. "If you can't do the time don't do the crime." Too many black guys in prison? Too many black guys commit crimes. Poverty made them do it? There are a huge number of us who have known poverty, we didn't resort to crime to escape it, we worked.
