This song is dedicated to the country that doesn't exist anymore... USSR
I know what some of you may think... if I like USSR so much why don't I go back.. USSR, was a country I was born in.. I'm not gonna deny my heritage.. I LOVE my new country , USA and that will never ever change.. It's just the best years of my childhood were in USSR.. Sometimes I wonder wh**ever happened to my friends, my classmates I had bunch of friends outside of school.. Things change when I started the 3rd grade, that's when antisemitic attacks happened.. That's when my dad was starting to talk about coming to America..Contrary to what some people think my dad was very anti- C*******t..... It won't happen until 6 years later when I turned 15.. In any case , it's not that I miss Soviet Union per se, it's that I miss my childhood days, when I had fun with friends and family.. This song is about yesterday's, about what it's used to be, that will never happen again..

Even though I don't understand the lyrics the song sounds that it is very positive and speaks of an era of p***e despite the political culture.

I took three years of college Russian. Russia is a beautiful country with beautiful people and a beautiful heritage of wonderful literature, music, dance, architecture, etc. Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn once said that to equate Russia with c*******m is like equating the patient with his cancer.
I believe ditto for Germany and National Socialism. I am German descent on both sides of my family.
Although I thank you for your devotion to this country, I wonder if we deserve it. Solzhenitsyn came to America after he was exiled from The Soviet Union and lived, quietly, in Vermont. After the USSR fell, he returned to Russia with a farewell blast that he could not recommend American society because of our excessive materialism & our loss of spirituality. Pope John Paul II said the same & I agree

Thankyou Ms Proud for posting this explanation on the lyrics. I have always been interested in Russian History and culture of all eras going back to the Scythians. I also have found and watched some very good Russian historical series recently on the Mongols , Peter theGreat and Catherine the Great. I have also read Gagarin's Bio and novels like Dr Zhivago.

WOW, that was nice. That song just oozes nostalgia. Got me thinking of when I was a kid, things sure were simpler.
