The US government has reportedly purchased most of the retired Soviet-era warplanes sold off in a recent auction by Kazakhstan, possibly for use by Kiev’s forces in the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
Washington was the winning bidder for 81 of the 117 aircraft, buying them “through offshore entities” for a combined $1.5 million, the Kiev Post reported on Sunday.
