It’s been five years since the Supreme Court decided Citizens United, which allowed unlimited corporate money into the political system and increased the domination of democracy by the wealthy elite. Money has indeed overwhelmed the system since 2008. This rise of big money in politics has endangered democracy and emboldened those who want to put democracy up for sale to aggressively attack the modest campaign spending regulations that still remain.

A recent Demos report explores how, since Citizens United, the following have occurred:
• In the 2012 e******n .01 percent of all Americans contributed more than 28 percent of all individual contributions.
• In the 2012 e******n, Sheldon Adelson spent an estimated $150 million, $98 million through dark money channels. In 1980, by contrast, the largest donor gave $1.72 million (inflation-adjusted).
• A 2013 study finds, “millionaires receive about twice as much representation when they comprise just 5 percent of the district’s population than the poorest wealth group does when it makes up 50 percent of the district.”
• Another 2013 study finds that the richest 1 percent of Americans are “extremely active politically and that they are much more conservative than the American public as a whole with respect to important policies concerning taxation, economic regulation, and especially social welfare programs.”
• In the 2014 midterms, in the most competitive races, candidates got 86 percent of individual contributions from donors giving more than $200.

Americans are increasingly skeptical of claims that democracy by the wealthy is compatible with their interests. In a recent study commissioned by CNBC and Burson-Marsteller, 73 percent of American consumers believe that the government is more on the side of corporations than average citizens. Research by Pew suggests that trust in government has reached an almost record low, and the most recent ANES data find that 63.4 percent of Americans earning less than $30,000 agree (24.5 percent “strongly agree”) that public officials don’t care what people think.

I have been harping on this theme since I got here. We have been set up by the true powers that be, Big Business, to be at each other's throats while they steadily take our nation as their private plantation. No more lobbyists! No more dark money!

I believe every thinking person in America is aware we are s***es. However, when both parties of a two party system are owned most Americans find themselves v****g for the lesser of the two evils.

I find the fact that people are so willing to fall for all the imaginary crisis our government comes up with to keep us divided appalling. It reminds me of the fairy tale, "Chicken Little". The sky is falling.

The only answer I can see at this point is total anarchy.

I have posted many topics on this subject but you are spot on and I can't understand why the TP folks on OPP just deny and insult when it's all right in front of them

The Tap Root of the buying of politicians is the Banksters. After all they create money out of thin air, and we, including the government, pay perpetual, unpayable interest to these parasites.
George Carlin tried to warn us:

Okay, what is the solution? How do we elect honest politicians? How do we stop lobbyists? How do we stop corporate money? I agree, our government is sick, but what is the cure?

It was Ron Paul. But the MSM and neither party dared let him get a foothold. That was probably our last chance for an honest, not bought president. There is no one to take his place, with the balls to go up against the Shadow government.
You think I am making up what was done in the last
republican primaries?
The video below shows it all: A compilation of footage that shows the tactics used by the media to block Ron Paul’s candidacy. Everything from; ignoring, bias, and even Republican caucus fraud. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o_WBo4sfmi4&feature=player_profilepage

If the Supreme Court had gone the other way on Citizens United, the l*****t news media would still have almost 100% control of federal e******ns. Wanna guess which party would benefit from that?

Big Money owns both parties. Is it really that hard to figure out?

Okay, let's go with your idea, and mine. If we take corporate money completely out of politics, how do we stop the l*****t news media from controlling e******ns?

I doubt it can be done. It is not just l*****t as all the Networks are except FOX. But Fox is the f*****t arm of those that own all the other networks. There lies the s**m, that most v**ers fall for. I doubt that enough people will figure this out. It may be too late.
All I can do is try. Not much success. I think our last chance was Ron Paul. I will hear from the controlled v**ers "Ron Paul was unelectable"; based on all the brain washing, and big money propaganda they fell for. If only enough v**ers from both political parties and independents ever figure this out, do we have a chance for an honest non bought President. A longer shot after every e******n. I post this video; to show how the e******ns are controlled. I doubt most here will even watch it and comment.

I am slightly to the right of Attila the Hun, and I care a lot about it, .... so don't run the silly "right doesn't care" crap, unless you're one of those l*****ts that just runs the daily left rhetoric to cover the fact you don't have a mind of your own.
