and read Gary North’s history of our current constitution, Conspiracy in Philadelpia. I have read only The Foreword & The Preface, thirty pages. It is North’s contention that our entire constitution is invalid.
He cites the following facts:
All attendees took a vow of lifetime silence.
They held their meetings on the second floor: no eavesdroppers
The press was barred from attending.
The legislatures’ instructions were deliberately violated.

There were 55 delegates 39 signed it. The majority of them were lawyers. Many were Masons. Two were Catholic.


Further, he concludes that without George Washington’s belated attendance and influence it would not have been ratified.
If these things are not frightening enough, The Preface ends with Article XIII from The Articles of Confederation outlining its requirements for amending them. The ratification process that was pursued by the Convention did an end run around it.
North argues, essentially, that our current constitution was illegally ratified. If it was not legally ratified, then we have some deep problems. Read & draw your own conclusions.
