Out immigration and asylum laws are being followed. After Jewish refugees were rejected by the US and other nations and forced back to N**i concentration camps, gas chambers and ovens the heartless depravity of their rejection led to treaties and laws designed to protect persecuted refugees. If anyone shows up at our border, airport or seaport turns themselves in and requests political asylum they are by law entitled to due process. This means a hearing where they can present evidence of their persecution to a judge. Sadly rather than a process that takes weeks backlogged understaffed courts are taking years. The options for the government are limited. They can be released to family and friends on bond until their hearing, which may take years, the vast majority show up at the hearings. They can also be held in custody if agents think they could pose a threat. The bipartisan border bill funded tens of thousands of border agents and increased immigration courts to reduce the backlog and tens of thousands of new beds in detention facilities. Trump extorted republicans to not allow a v**e on the popular problem solving bill, the blame is on him and his sycophants.
