JOE BIDEN HAS ADVOCATED CUTTING SOCIAL SECURITY FOR 40 YEARS
“I tried with Senator Grassley back in the 1980s to freeze all government spending, including Social Security, including everything,” Biden said in 1995.
AS EARLY AS 1984 and as recently as 2018, former Vice President Joe Biden called for cuts to Social Security in the name of saving the program and balancing the federal budget. Last week, Sen. Bernie Sanders highlighted Biden’s record on Social Security in prosecuting the case that Biden isn’t the most electable candidate. The issue could be raised again in Tuesday night’s debate.

After a Sanders campaign newsletter continued the attack on Biden’s Social Security record, the Biden campaign complained to fact-checkers at Politifact that his comments were being taken out of context. Placed in context, however, Biden’s record on Social Security is far worse than one offhand remark. Indeed, Biden has been advocating for cuts to Social Security for roughly 40 years.

And after a Republican wave swept Congress in 1994, Biden’s support for cutting Social Security, and his general advocacy for budget austerity, made him a leading combatant in the centrist-wing battle against the party’s retreating liberals in the 1980s and ’90s.

“When I argued that we should freeze federal spending, I meant Social Security as well,” he told the Senate in 1995.
“I meant Medicare and Medicaid.
I meant veterans’ benefits.
I meant every single solitary thing in the government.
And I not only tried it once, I tried it twice, I tried it a third time, and I tried it a fourth time.”
(A freeze would have reduced the amount that would be paid out, cutting the program’s benefit.)
“The t***h is the last e******n did one thing,” Biden continued. “I do not know whether it really made you guys a majority party for long. I do not know. We will find out. I know one thing it did. What it did was it made sure that there was nobody left on the left in my party who, in fact, said we do not care about moving the budget toward balance.”
BIDEN’S FIXATION on cutting Social Security dates back to the Reagan era. One of Ronald Reagan’s first major moves as president was to implement a mammoth tax cut, tilted toward the wealthy, and to increase defense spending.
Biden, a Delaware senator at the time, supported both moves.
The heightened spending and reduced revenue focused public attention on the debt and deficit, giving fuel to a push for a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution.

In the midst of that debate, Biden teamed up with Iowa Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley to call for a freeze on federal spending, and insisted on including Social Security in that freeze, even as the Reagan administration fought to protect the program from cuts.

I am not now nor have I been praising everything that Biden has done..we helped Ukraine because they wanted to join NATO and Putin did not like that..That war is a stalemate...You trumpers want to blame the inflation on Biden and that's entirely untrue...Here are the main reasons for inflation...the country was shut down and when everything started to open back up there was a huge depleted work force so many places had to hike the pay to fill positions.... anytime that fastfood starts offering 15-16 hourly to start when a year n half before they offered 10-11 hourly and same large increase everywhere...so that payroll hike has to get covered so BAM only one way....so also truckers began walking off the job because greedy companies and such decided to try and classify driver's as independent contractors and we had close to half of them say f**k you and quit..so in a capitalist society as you should know ....supply and demand is a big part of cost...prices were already going up from Trumps trade war to....no one wins a trade war when it's the two biggest economic players...you trumpers forget how electronics and appliances went up 25-30 percent back in 2018-19...you can say gas was cheap but that's because no one was buying much do to the shutdown...so you also had people sitting on more spending money then they had in awhile....there was many people that lost their jobs and made way more collecting unemployment thanks to the extra 600 every week on top of the regular amount they received....and cant forget those stimulus checks at 1200-2400xs two ...so of course the buisness in this country were very aware of the people sitting on that cash and absolutely more then willing to help them spend those bonus bucks....you trumpers have brain fog I think.... Trump first 2 years in office he did all he could to shut down the Mueller investigation because that's what innocent people do all the time...and how many of his cohorts pleaded guilty to felonies?.. You are right about one thing, open your eyes and see the t***h. Gas was 2.69 a gal when Biden took office. It is 3.29 right now and will go up more as quick as summer travel starts. Diesel is 4.00 a gal. Truckers cannot afford to haul the products for the same money, so everything they haul is higher. Biden's open border policy is costing the taxpayers billions and it is going up all the time. It will take years to get this country back where it was before Biden if it ever does. Biden is encouraging i******s to come here, and with no benefit to the American people. They have no right to be here, Not one dime of the taxpayers money should be spent on these people. Biden is the most corrupt, crooked, unqualified person we have ever had in the WH. With the evidence against the whole Biden family of Bribes etc. they should be in jail right now. All the money that Biden got for the people just made it a lot easier to stay on unemployment. That's one reason businesses are having a problem getting workers, so they have had to raise the wages, which in turn has caused the cost of everything to skyrocket. Millions of people are just barely living from month to month and their debts are shooting up because they are getting farther and farther in debt trying to get by.
