Lara Logan is one of the best investigative reporters around. It's too early for me to speculate about this but she makes several good points.

Ok. D, look I work on boats as I wright this I am off watch in my bunk and the pilot is driving the boat in the Houston channel. We pass ships like that all the time. In my carrier out here I have almost been run over twice by these bastards, because they lost steering . As a master tankerman I have lidered ships , meaning fill them up or discharged them. I go on board and come up with the plan for what ever the product is . Point being it's a big boat and the only thing you can hack is the email . Nothing else and I mean nothing is connected to the web. It's mechanical . Yes multiple redundant systems , an attempt at safety . What happened here is shoddy seamanship . All navical inland waterways are assigned pilots at ALL critical points . So in short an American who speaks English gets on board and tells the Master/ Captain what direction , what speed and talks to traffic . The pilot is responsible and at the mercy of the seaworthiness of the vessel. Saddly that pilot will do five years federal time. And have to pay upwards of a million in fines and never work in the industry again . We work everyday to keep the can I am on afloat and operable. We blew up a winch chain yesterday while under way. Had we lost the barge and or a product spill this crew would be on the news tomorrow . Thing is if the average person knew how often this happens the public would be terrified . In short you cannot hack a ship of any kind

As I said, I refrain from judgment until I know more, but Lara Logan makes a compelling case. Nevertheless, this all seems premature since they haven't even listened to the black box recordings. I am just filing it away as something to be aware of as more information comes forth. Thanks for your take on this. I know how competitive shipping is and therefore how little money is invested in upgrading navigation systems and such. But AI is rapidly changing the game. Just a thought.

No I get it and I didn't mean to come on so strong . She should however ask someone in the industry. By the way I almost always like what you post so keep it up

This does make one wonder. The government isn't honest with us, and this leads to all kinds of speculation and conspiracy theories. Much like the Kennedy Assassination, I wonder if we will ever know the t***h. One absolute t***h, however, is that the Biden Administration is up to and in way over their heads, and it is the worst administration in our history.

Here's an article by Cliff Kincaid.

Terrorist attack in Baltimore
By Cliff Kincaid
March 27, 2024

After an attack like we saw in Baltimore, which we have to assume to be terrorism, government officials typically are quick to rule out terrorism and then congratulate themselves on their “quick” response and express regrets for the loss of life.

Look at the lightweight Maryland Governor Wes Moore wearing his own “Wes Moore” jacket and talking about how the bridge was “up to code,” despite collapsing after a cargo ship failed to go under the bridge and then mysteriously hit one of its pylons. These officials look ridiculous, at a time when the loss of life is still not completely known, but they are also very dangerous and playing political games with the lives of our fellow Americans.

They know America is under attack but don’t want to undermine Joe Biden’s campaign for president at a sensitive time when Americans are already on edge because of the terrorists coming onto the U.S. through the open borders.

Watch the linked CBS video, as well as the linked video from Tik Toc, and you can see the ship being steered into the pylon, collapsing the bridge.

Considering the reality of Chinese and Russian cyber warfare, as documented by the FBI and others, the assumption has to be terrorism until they prove otherwise.

What we saw in the quickie news conference was a government exercise in CYA, or cover your ass, which government officials are very good at. An FBI official, William J. DelBagno, was on the scene and even spoke at the quickie news conference. He ruled out terrorism, even without the results of any investigation! Amazing.

They think we are fools.

These officials want to divert attention away from the “theory” that it was an intentional terrorist attack.

“There is no specific or credible information to suggest there are ties to terrorism in this incident,” DelBagno said.

How does he know this soon after the incident? Did he expect the Chinese or the Russians to announce they were responsible?

DelBagno was just named as the special agent in charge of the Baltimore Field Office. He most recently served as the acting assistant director of the Inspection Division at FBI Headquarters in Washington, D.C.

His bio says that in 2012 he “served in a temporary duty assignment as a Supervisory Special Agent at the Chemical Countermeasures Unit in the Weapons of Mass Destruction Directorate; and in 2013, he t***sferred from New York to the WMD Directorate permanently with a promotion to Unit Chief of the WMD Operations Investigative Unit.”

Cyber warfare is a weapon of mass destruction.

He was undoubtedly told in advance by FBI Director Christopher Wray to rule out terrorism.

“Tuesday's collapse came after the Singapore-f**gged cargo vessel ‘lost propulsion’ and hit a supporting tower of the bridge, according to an unclassified Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency memo reviewed by CBS News and confirmed by a law enforcement official,” the news outlet reported.

Why is the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency involved?

I have no doubt government officials are lying about why the ship crashed into the bridge. They jump to conclusions, trying to reassure the public, hoping we will accept what they say. This gives them time to assess the damage. They don’t want our enemies to know that they know what happened.

But we know, or at least we can draw our own conclusions

I covered the post-9/11 anthrax attacks in depth, only to watch the FBI blame one American scientist after another, exonerating al Qaeda and its access to the deadly substance through a U.S. lab. The first scientist, Steven Hatfill, sued and got almost $6 million in damages from the DOJ. The second, Bruce Ivins, was blamed by the FBI after he k**led himself, the result of government persecution.

Dr. Ayman al-Zawahiri, head of Egyptian Islamic Jihad before he took over al Qaeda, was behind the attacks. He arranged the theft of the anthrax from a U.S. lab, using al-Qaeda assets and operatives on American soil.

Alexander Litvinenko, a former Russian intelligence agent who fled to London, told Konstantine Preobrazhensky that al-Zawahiri was a KGB agent trained by Moscow. Litvinenko is believed to have been poisoned by Russian intelligence on the orders of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

In my view, the ship was sabotaged, probably through hacking. It supposedly lost propulsion – power and control – several times before hitting the bridge. This looks like cyber warfare.

This happened on a clear night. There is no excuse for what happened, unless the ship was commandeered by a foreign adversary using sophisticated hacking techniques.

Our book Blood on His Hands: The True Story of Edward Snowden explains how we have been at a disadvantage since this former NSA/CIA analyst defected to Russia through China.

Consider that FBI Director Wray said only one month ago in Munich that “China’s hacking program is larger than that of every other major nation, combined. And that size advantage is only magnified because the PRC uses AI – built in large part on stolen innovation and stolen data – to improve its hacking operations, including to steal yet more AI tech and data.”

And conduct terrorist attacks inside the United States.

He cited the so-called “Hafnium” Microsoft Exchange hack, “where the PRC c*********d managed service providers, hitting tens of thousands of victims.”

He went on to say,

“In fact, China-sponsored hackers pre-positioned for potential cyberattacks against U.S. oil and natural gas companies way back in 2011. But these days, it’s reached something closer to a fever pitch. What we’re seeing now, is China’s increasing buildout of offensive weapons within our critical infrastructure, poised to attack whenever Beijing decides the time is right.

“Take, for instance, persistent PRC access the U.S. found in our critical telecommunications, energy, water, and other infrastructure. China-sponsored hackers known as Volt Typhoon were hiding inside our networks, lying in wait for the moment China might choose to use their access to hurt American civilians. And while many of you may have seen the Volt Typhoon story as one about the PRC targeting the United States, in fact their targets spanned the globe—which shouldn’t be surprising, because in hack after hack, for years, we’ve seen the PRC hitting our partners around the world.”

The problem with the FBI is that it is outgunned and outmanned, with too many agents wasting time arresting pro-lifers, J6 trespassers, and Christian conservatives.

Wray went on to say:

“Take for instance, the 2022 cyberattack by an Iranian-sponsored group on a children’s hospital in the United States, one that showed a callous—and, frankly, despicable—disregard for the safety of the most vulnerable among us.

“Or consider Russia’s continued targeting of critical infrastructure—including underwater cables and industrial control systems both in the United States and around the world.”

At the end of his talk, Wray said that “…no one should question its [Russia’s] continuing willingness to launch destructive cyberattacks before and during military conflict.”

Yet, when a bridge collapses in Baltimore because a cargo ship goes out of control, the FBI immediately rules out terrorism!

This agency does not deserve a new $200 million headquarters in Maryland.

The other thing I noticed in the ship video is there are NO harbor tugs . We just passed a container ship being docked in Houston .it had 3 tugs working it .in the USA a big ship cannot use its main engines for 2 reasons 1) it burns Six oil and by EPA REG's and USCG it is to dirty for air quality reasons . 2) there is no real fine tuning or gear ratio small enough for intercoastal waters, so it idles allowing the harbor tugs to manipulate it into said dock. When it leaves it has an anchor tug on a line behind it. Because even in idle it's too much power. The black stacking (as we call it ) the thick black smoke coming out the stack. just before impacting the bridge is a very clear sign the Ship PILOT made an OH S**T decision, full reverse damn the fine save the bridge . This is not like stepping on the gas in your truck . Our small 1500 hp boat has about a fifteen second delay . A ship with enormous engines might be a full two minuets. Also he was headed down stream. In Micronesia Magellan would capture local reaf fisherman to navagate the the complex reef systems . Only to be told to sink a foward sail in front of the ship. Thus capturing the current and safely guiding the ship through the morass . This whole thing reeks of complacency and bad seamanship. If he canceled the assist tugs its his ass.
Again you cannot in anyway hack the steerage radar, or propulsion of a vessel . Period..

Go Touch Some Grass
Limit your exposure to social media and do a better job of getting offline.

The shocking and horrific Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse in Baltimore, triggered by the Singaporean-f**gged cargo ship Dali striking it during the wee hours of Tuesday morning, has functioned as something of a Rorschach test. That test cuts to the heart of today’s hyper-online culture and a concomitant willingness — perhaps eagerness — to believe anything sensationalist even if there is no supporting evidence.

To be sure, the video of the bridge collapse is truly surreal. Watching it on replay in an attempt to comprehend how this could have possibly happened in the United States of America in the year 2024, I could not help but think of the old Japanese Godzilla movies and the mid-century depictions of mass urban destruction that now look so f**e to moviegoers’ eyes.

Amid such a stupor, and perhaps especially just a few days after the horrific ISIS massacre in Moscow that left at least 140 dead and 360 more injured, it is not at all unreasonable to openly ponder that very question: How?

Within hours, social media was buzzing with wild speculation and the promotion of innumerable “alternative” explanations for how Dali took down the Francis Scott Key Bridge. Perhaps it was a cyberattack; perhaps the ship’s captain and crew were incompetent, hired as a result of affirmative action and the “diversity” agenda; perhaps they were hostile foreign agents who infiltrated Synergy Marine Group, Dali’s owner; or perhaps the tragedy was an “inside job” intended to manufacture a crisis that President Joe Biden could then exploit in a p**********l e******n year.

Also within hours, though, we had enough information to know what happened: Dali, which was captained by a highly trained and experienced local pilot, lost power in a tragic fluke incident. The Dali pilot actually had the foresight to issue a mayday distress signal, thus allowing local law enforcement and highway patrol to s**mper to close off the bridge. Every innocent life lost is of course a tragedy, but it is still somewhat remarkable that one of the most traversed bridges in the entire “Acela Corridor” collapsed like a toy and only six people are presumed dead because of it.

Many continued to promote baseless “alternative” explanations anyway, inconvenient facts notwithstanding. In fairness, we live in an age when many explanations initially dismissed by elites as “conspiracy theories” end up being true. The W***n lab-leak origins of the C****-** v***s and the authenticity of H****r B***n’s infamous laptop both come to mind as but two recent examples.

But in both those cases, there was no reason to dismiss the underlying claims out of hand absent an ideological reason for doing so: politically driven fear of enraging China or somehow fomenting anti-Asian r****m in the first case, and a t***sparent political desire for Joe Biden to defeat Donald Trump in the latter case. “Alternative” explanations for the Dali catastrophe, by contrast, bear a closer resemblance to Alex Jones’ infamous rants that the 2012 Sandy Hook school shooting was a “false f**g” operation.

Note to the hyper-online: Sometimes a so-called conspiracy theory is just an actual conspiracy theory.

In today’s age of social media, when the perverse incentive is for clout-chasing commentators and “influencers” to say the most outlandish thing imaginable (e.g., Candace Owens) to get attention, innocent users are regularly misled. This is not a victim-free phenomenon — when deliberate misleading prolongs, minds are turned to mush. Critical thinking, basic analytical sk**ls and objective assessment of empirical data are all discarded. It can be fun or “edgy” to promote or believe a facially absurd thing, either to be a contrarian or just for the lolz.

The solution is to limit your exposure to social media and do a better job of getting offline and touching grass. Get away from the cesspool of Twitter/X and Instagram, and ground yourself with family, friends, hobbies, and in-person activities. Just this week in South Florida, where I live, my wife and I attended the Miami Open professional tennis tournament and opening day for the Miami Marlins. Both events were great fun. But even something as simple as putting down the phone to go outside and breathe some fresh air will almost always be a good idea. It’s certainly helpful for avoiding the pitfalls of hyper-online culture, to say nothing of maintaining general mental sanity.

Maybe after you finish reading this column, you can give it a shot yourself.

I'm familiar with the title, although I have never read the book, I have heard the author talk about this in interviews. BTW, I had the Sabin v*****e when I was a child. It seems the more things change the more they stary the same.

For all wars look no further than the closed investors of central banks. It takes money to start them and they loan to both sides of a conflict. Their firestarters are the CIA and the Mossad. Their politicians do their bidding with the policy=making with blackmail.
