A Georgia woman named Elizabeth Dasburg and two other plaintiffs are suing the National Parks Service and the Department of the Interior over a recent policy of refusing cash payments for entry to national parks.

Many critics of the push for a “cashless society” complain that it allows the government not only to surveille citizen’s movements and purchases, but also target political opponents by forcing banks to shut off their access to debit and credit card accounts. In this case, it also bars lower income Americans from national parks if they don’t have bank accounts or credit cards. You'd think even liberals would oppose that.

And as the lawsuit points out, there’s the little matter of it being unconstitutional. Maybe nobody in the government has taken a close look at any cash recently, but it says right on the money, “This note is legal tender for all debts public and private.” But then, it also says, “In God We Trust,” and a lot of people in Washington seem to have forgotten about that, too.
