When the war in Ukraine started, the United States was not very well prepared in what it was going to do. It sanctioned Russia for this and for that. And so, the price of oil started going up. And at the same time, the United States actually put sanctions on Russian oil, not on gas, on oil. So, then there was less Russian oil in the Western markets.

Russia actually started selling its oil more and more to China and to India and cutting its prices to those countries. So they would buy Russian oil, but there was a shortage of oil.

Another reason why the shortage had developed was America basically uses sanctions on countries a lot-as it has sanctioned Venezuela for many years, but Biden took the sanctions off the Iranian oil trade in order to rejoin the Iran nuclear deal.

Saudi Arabia, with the new effective ruler who’s known as MBS, has cozied up to Putin. And so, when President Biden went and saw him a few months back and kind of asked him to increase oil production - I think America really shamed or embarrassed itself by doing that.

Of course, MBS did not respond positively. But now he, in fact, has gone over the top. He had agreed within OPEC – and of course he’s the main spokesman in OPEC with Russia – that they would cut back.

Oil and gasoline prices went up and Biden ended up tapping into our SPR to reduce the price of gasoline before the midterm e******ns.

And it seems obvious that the Saudis and Russans have been cutting and will further cut back oil production and blame Biden. When the real reason is dishonest support for Trump by foregn nations.

Trump belongs in jail. He is owned by foreign interests and is being helped to win the 2024 e******n by the Saudi prince and Putin. You think that's good for America?

More unproven lies from the left. It’s all they have, sadly.

I have never said I support Biden. You and others who never learned to read for meaning make that assumption frequntly. Fact is, many times, I have said in this forum that I could v**e for almost anyone else but trump, including Nikki Haley. Biden did a really bad job the first 2 years. Stupidity personified. But I will hold my nose and v**e for Biden over the criminal trump. Trump is total lying scum and a sexual abuser. And my conscience will not allow me to v**e for such a total scumbag.

Seems to largely agree with what I wrote. What say you about future prices? They are up 30 cents a gallon in my area in the last 2 weeks.

Those eco friendly college students have no problem with using f****l f**ls to PARTY-UP.

(NewsNation/Nexstar) — Gas prices increased during the last week of February, and a AAA report suggests they’ll keep rising as drivers hit the road for spring break.

Based on a college education and experience with all sorts of people and in foreign countries with differnt religoins, I have learned quite a bit about human nature, history, facts, t***h, honesty, and rule of law. And I spent time studying economics and history and the ties between the two. And I understand how economics are driven by wages and greatness is driven by attitude involved with the quality of life of a population. We use to be great because we had a good life, with ample money to do what we wanted to do. That is not true today. And congress is at fault as a result of bribery by corporate interests and the wealthy who are also greedy. I have explained all that in detail elsewhere in an article I authored. The evidence is there for anyone wanting the t***h.

They are up around 40 cents a gallon in the last 2 weeks in my area.

According to Marketwatch and CNN Business, the refineries often shut down for regularly scheduled maintenance late in the winter and early in the spring. Those shutdowns limit how much oil the refinery system can turn into gasoline, jet fuel and diesel.

What’s complicated matters this winter is there have been some unscheduled refinery outages.

Most notably, BP’s Whiting refinery in northwest Indiana has been shut down for weeks. That’s a big deal because this refinery is not just BP’s largest in the world, it’s the biggest in the Midwest. BP says Whiting can produce enough gasoline each day to support the average daily travel of 7 million cars.

It’s no coincidence then, that states in the Midwest have experienced the biggest price spikes.

On Sunday, several OPEC+ countries announced they were extending oil production cuts, which puts upward pressure on oil and gas prices.

Crude oil, which accounts for about 57% of what drivers pay for a gallon of gas, was trading at around $79 per a barrel on Monday, according to the West Texas Intermediate measure. The cost is up about 9% in the past month, and it's near the highest level since November. Seasonal trends play a factor in the rise and fall of gas prices too.

Historically, gas tends to be cheapest in the winter when driving activity is low and the country is using winter-grade gasoline. In the spring, demand for gas picks up as warmer weather arrives and prices are also impacted as refineries switch to the more expensive summer blend.

“We’re entering spring break season, and historically, March and April bring higher gas prices,” AAA spokesperson Aixa Diaz said in a recent report. “With milder temperatures come more road trips, and this time of year tends to be a precursor to the summer driving season.”

Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, said in a report that refinery maintenance usually peaks in March, “impacting how much gasoline can be produced as we make the changeover to the summer blends. This always crimps supply, leading to further gas price increases.”

On a more positive note, gas prices are lower than they were at this time in 2022 and 2023. In some states, the average is still below $3 per gallon, including Mississippi ($2.88), Colorado ($2.93) and Texas ($2.93), according to AAA.

Citing increased U.S. refinery capacity, the Energy Information Administration forecasts that gas prices will be lower overall in 2024, averaging $3.31 per gallon, compared to $3.52 last year.

Tomorrow. Too late tonight. Past my bed time. And I'll have to go find a gas price sign to get the current price. I have not bought gas in about 2 weeks. I don't drive much anymore. Getting old.
