Case in point, Galileo challenged the general believe that the sun
was circling the earth, stating the opposite...
I think you need a better argument.

They all do, but they seem to live in an echo chamber - almost like Galileo's time.

Actually, Copernicus was the one who proved the earth orbits the sun, Galileo championed what is known as "Copernican Heliocentrism" and came under fire from the Roman Catholic church.

Galileo, by the way, was among the many fathers of modern science who believed in God.
These scientists included Copernicus, Newton, Einstein, Planck, Marconi, Kepler, Pasteur, Volta, Edison, Pascal, and Faraday, some were deists, most were Christians.

" My religion consists of a humble admiration of the illimitable superior spirit who reveals himself in the slight details we are able to perceive with our frail and feeble mind."

"Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind."
Albert Einstein

Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God,
so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
Hebrews 11:3

One of the reasons OPP is addictive is that both sides get ego boosts when they read the inane comments posted by the other side.

Same ego boost when we read the posts that reinforce our takes on reality.
