Does Trump Fine of $355 Million Violate Eighth Amendment?

Eighth Amendment

Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.

Everyone, from Donald J. Trump's greatest supporters to his worst opponents, had to be astonished at the fine imposed by Judge Arthur F. Engoron. The fine must be reduced to restore any faith in the American judicial system. Further, Engoron and Letitia James should be disbarred & prosecuted for violations of The Constitution.

It should. The whole case is a deliberate twisting of and misapplication of law.

It’s not excessive; Trump brags about being a multibillionaire so $355 million shouldn’t be a problem. The RNC is paying most of his legal bills—$50 million so far.

Like that’s ever going to happen. 😂

It's a pity that there are people such as you on this earth. You're a disgrace to humanity.

H. L. Mencken famously, once said, that you'll never lose money underestimating the taste of the American people. To paraphrase him, I say you'll never lose money underestimating the integrity, principle and decency of a liberal. You prove it.

You're probably right that James & Engoron will never be prosecuted ad disbarred but there should be a provision in law for when government officials do these things.

This will utterly destroy our Capitalist economy.
The residents of Jew York will regret this rediculous verdict.

I was born in Queens & raised in midtown Manhattan on East 46th Street. I've not llved on NYC since 1971. The first time I ever v**ed was in 1965 for William F. Buckley, Jr. for mayor. I was too young to v**e the previous year to help stop the infliction of Lyndon Johnson on the country by v****g for Barry Goldwater.

I now live on Florida, as so many former New Yorkers & New Englanders do. Please should stay in New York. You deserve each other.
